Rothmund Expands Fleet with Fourth Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1

Rothmund GmbH und Montage has purchased another 230-tonne mobile crane from Liebherr. This is now already the fourth LTM 1230-5.1 in the Pforzheim-based company's fleet. The 5-axle model’s excellent flexibility, coupled with the 75-metre telescopic boom, were the key factors in the decision to invest in the same model again.

30-Second Takeaway Rothmund GmbH und Montage has taken delivery of its fourth Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 , reinforcing its confidence in the 230-tonne, 5-axle mobile crane. Featuring a 75-metre telescopic boom , VarioBase®, and VarioBallast®, the LTM 1230-5.1 delivers exceptional mission flexibility across steel construction, concrete work, tower crane assembly, and industrial projects. Crane handover in Ehingen (from left to right): Tim Brückner, Heiko Brückner (both Rothmund GmbH und Montage), Joachim Sommer (Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH). Rothmund chose a very special design for the first LTM 1230-5.1 to mark the company's 40th anniversary in 2021: gold lettering on a black background. The same design also graces the fourth LTM 1230-5.1 in the Rothmund fleet. Rothmund GmbH und Montage has once again invested in Liebherr mobile crane technology, taking delivery of another LTM 1230-5.1  at the Liebherr plant in Ehingen. This latest addition brings the Pforzheim-based company’s fleet of this model to four identical cranes , underlining the crane’s versatility, performance, and operational efficiency. The handover was attended by Tim Brückner and Heiko Brückner  of Rothmund GmbH und Montage, together with Joachim Sommer  from Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH. As with the previous units, Rothmund opted for its distinctive anniversary design featuring gold lettering on a black background , first introduced in 2021 to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. Proven Concept Since 2020 Rothmund’s confidence in the LTM 1230-5.1 dates back to 2020, when the company placed its first order during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. Just six months later, a second crane followed. Today, the fleet includes four identical machines. “We’ve bought our fourth LTM 1230-5.1 because this crane simply represents the ideal concept for us,” explains Heiko Brückner , Managing Director of Rothmund GmbH und Montage. “With the variable VarioBase® support, the adjustable VarioBallast® radius, and different ballast configurations, we can use it on an extremely wide range of jobs.” The 75-metre telescopic boom  is a decisive advantage, allowing Rothmund to complete many lifts without lattice extensions while still achieving impressive hook heights and load capacities. One Crane, Countless Applications The LTM 1230-5.1 has proven itself as a true all-rounder  in Rothmund’s daily operations. Its flexibility makes it particularly well suited for: Concrete and steel construction Tower crane assembly and dismantling Industrial maintenance and plant work “The crane’s flexibility makes it hugely popular with our customers,” Brückner adds. “It allows us to react quickly and efficiently across very different project types.” Ten Liebherr Cranes in Five Years Since 2021 alone, Rothmund has taken delivery of ten new Liebherr mobile cranes , reflecting a clear long-term strategy centered on standardization and reliability. “Besides the quality and strong resale value, it’s the excellent support that makes us choose Liebherr,” says Brückner. “Customer service is professional and fast, spare parts are available quickly, and standardized crane operation across all Liebherr models allows us to deploy our operators flexibly regardless of crane size.” This consistency reduces training effort, improves safety, and increases operational efficiency across the fleet. Expanding Beyond Mobile Cranes Rothmund’s Liebherr investment strategy extends beyond all-terrain cranes. Since February 2025, the company has also operated a Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane , primarily used for steel construction, precast concrete assembly, and as an auxiliary crane for wind turbine installation. Since February of this year, Rothmund has also had a Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane. It is mainly used for steel construction and prefabricated concrete part assemblies, as well as serving as an auxiliary crane in the assembly of wind turbines.
