Grove has launched the GMK8700, its most powerful all-terrain crane to date, with an 800 USt (700 t) lifting capacity, advanced crane technologies and two interchangeable boom configurations.

30-Second Takeaway Grove has introduced the GMK8700 , its new 800 USt (700 t) all-terrain crane , at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas . Built on an eight-axle carrier, the crane features two boom configurations, MegaWingLift™ capacity enhancement, CCS 2.0 controls and MAXbase™ 2.0 outriggers , delivering high lifting capacity and flexibility for infrastructure, industrial and energy sector projects. Grove Launches New Flagship All-Terrain Crane Crane manufacturer Grove , part of Manitowoc , has unveiled the GMK8700 , the company’s largest and most powerful all-terrain crane  to date. The new crane made its public debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas , drawing attention as the biggest Grove crane currently available. With a lifting capacity of 800 USt (700 tonnes)  and an eight-axle carrier , the GMK8700 expands Grove’s product range and addresses increasing demand for heavy-lift cranes across sectors such as: Infrastructure construction Energy and industrial installations Petrochemical projects Large-scale plant construction According to Andreas Cremer, Vice President Product Management Mobile Cranes at Manitowoc , the crane reflects the company’s focus on engineering performance and customer productivity. Two Boom Options Offer Greater Jobsite Flexibility A key feature of the GMK8700 all-terrain crane  is the availability of two interchangeable boom configurations . Customers can select either: 177 ft (54 m) telescopic boom 263 ft (80 m) telescopic boom Both boom options use Grove’s Megaform™ boom design , allowing sections to be exchanged between configurations to suit different lifting requirements. This modular approach allows crane owners to adapt the crane for a wide range of projects , increasing fleet flexibility and return on investment. Transportability and Mobility Improvements The GMK8700  was designed using Manitowoc’s Voice of the Customer (VOC)  development process, focusing heavily on transport and jobsite mobility. Transport features include: Boom transport options , either carried over the front or on a dolly MegaDrive® carrier system  for improved driving performance Five driven axles  for enhanced traction and maneuverability MEGATRAK® suspension  system for terrain adaptability Additional features include: Removable rear outrigger box Adaptive electronic braking system Together, these improvements simplify crane logistics and mobility between job sites. MegaWingLift™ and VPC Technology Increase Lifting Capacity The GMK8700  delivers high lifting performance through several advanced technologies. The crane is equipped with MegaWingLift™ , a self-rigging capacity-enhancing system that can be installed without the need for an auxiliary crane , reducing setup time on site. The crane can carry up to: 385,000 lb (175 t) of counterweight The counterweight system also incorporates Variable Position Counterweight (VPC)® technology  for the first time on a Grove model. This system allows operators to adjust the counterweight position dynamically , increasing lifting capacity without adding additional counterweights. Extended Reach with Luffing Jib System For long-reach lifting operations, the GMK8700  can be equipped with a luffing jib system extending up to 351 ft (107 m) . The jib system includes: Single back mast configuration Optional boom extensions This allows operators to configure the crane for high-reach industrial lifts and complex infrastructure projects . Next-Generation CCS 2.0 Crane Control System The GMK8700  also introduces Manitowoc’s CCS 2.0 crane control system , the next evolution of the company’s well-known crane operating platform. The system integrates with: Grove CONNECT™ telematics MAXbase™ 2.0 variable outrigger positioning Together these technologies provide: Real-time lifting capacity calculations Touchscreen operator interface Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting Improved service support and condition monitoring Dedicated displays for the carrier and superstructure  further enhance operator awareness and efficiency. Strengthening Manitowoc’s Heavy Lift Portfolio With the launch of the GMK8700 , Grove continues expanding its heavy-lift portfolio while maintaining compatibility with existing crane fleets. The crane’s counterweight slabs are interchangeable with other models including: GMK6400 GMK6400-1 GMK6450-1 This parts commonality simplifies maintenance, training and fleet management for crane owners.
