JMS RISI Expands Fleet with Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 and Deep Foundation Equipment

Ehingen (Donau) (Germany), 16 September 2025 - The first Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane ever shipped to Switzerland recently rolled out of Liebherr-Baumaschine AG’s facility in Reiden (Lucerne canton). The company is responsible for the distribution and servicing of the Liebherr Group’s construction machinery in Switzerland.

30-Second Takeaway Swiss special civil engineering specialist JMS RISI AG  has expanded its fleet with three new Liebherr machines purchased at Bauma : the LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane , LB 45 drilling rig , and 110 D-K crawler concrete pump . The addition strengthens JMS RISI’s in-house lifting and deep foundation capabilities, with all major drilling equipment in the fleet now sourced exclusively from Liebherr. First machine in Switzerland: the LTM 1100-5.3 was handed over to the JMS RISI team in August. Picture (from left to right): Patrick Grosschedl (JMS RISI), Gregor Blickenstorfer, Marc Bollinger (both Liebherr), Astrid Bleiss (JMS RISI), Stefan Gubser, Erich Laimbacher (both JMS RISI) Matthias Frey (Liebherr) and Werner Brunner (JMS RISI). Strategic Bauma Investment At the Bauma construction machinery exhibition in Munich, JMS RISI AG  secured a comprehensive Liebherr equipment package designed to support its demanding civil engineering and deep foundation projects. The order included: LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane LB 45 drilling rig 110 D-K crawler concrete pump Following operator training and handover, all three machines are now fully operational on Swiss construction sites. First LTM 1100-5.3 Delivered to Switzerland The LTM 1100-5.3  delivered to JMS RISI is the first of its model ever shipped to Switzerland . The 5-axle mobile crane features Liebherr’s latest LICCON3 control system , delivering enhanced computing power, faster data processing, and an intuitive operator interface. “Our crane operators spent three full days at Liebherr learning the new machine,” explained Werner Brunner , Construction Manager for Pile Drivers and Hydraulic Engineering at JMS RISI. “The training ensured we could put the crane straight to work with confidence.” After handover at Liebherr-Baumaschine AG’s Reiden facility, the crane moved directly to its first job site in Hagendorn, Canton Zug . Training on the new LICCON3 crane at Liebherr’s premises in Reiden took three days. In-House Crane for Specialized Civil Engineering Unlike traditional crane rental companies, JMS RISI will use the LTM 1100-5.3 exclusively for internal operations , supporting: Loading and unloading of construction materials Lifting pontoons and ships Recurring crane tasks on construction sites Operations at gravel plants This approach ensures high availability and precise coordination with the company’s drilling and concrete operations. LB 45 Drilling Rig at Work on Major Energy Project The newly delivered Liebherr LB 45 drilling rig  has already been operating continuously for several weeks. It is currently deployed on a major construction site near Laufenburg , close to the German border. Key project details include: Pile depths:  up to 32 metres Pile diameter:  up to 1.2 metres Total piles:  approx. 600 Excavation volume:  500,000 m³ Total construction volume:  nearly 900,000 m³ The site will host a technology center , including a large-scale battery storage facility and an AI data center, playing a critical role in Switzerland’s future energy infrastructure. In addition to the LB 45, JMS RISI is also operating: Liebherr LRB 355 Liebherr HS 850 cable excavator Liebherr as the Sole Deep Foundation Supplier JMS RISI has made a deliberate move toward standardization across its deep foundation fleet. “Since replacing our last drilling rig from another manufacturer, all our major drilling equipment comes from Liebherr,” said Daniel Schuler , Construction Manager at JMS RISI. “Since the start of 2024 alone, we’ve added two LB machines and two LRB machines.” This strategy simplifies training, service, parts logistics, and fleet reliability across projects nationwide. Long-Term Partnership Built on Performance JMS RISI AG is one of Switzerland’s largest special civil engineering companies and has partnered with Liebherr for many years. The company’s broad service portfolio includes: Deep foundations and piling Demolition Gravel, sand, and concrete production Recycling and disposal Heavy and special transport Hydraulic and river engineering With approximately 370 employees  across multiple Swiss locations, JMS RISI continues to invest in modern, high-performance equipment to support complex infrastructure projects. Together with the mobile crane and a crawler concrete pump from Liebherr, JMS RISI has also put a new LB 45 drilling rig into service. The powerful drilling rig places piles down to a depth of 32 metres and with a diameter of 120 centimetres on its first construction site in the Swiss town of Laufenburg.
