LEEA Launches Campaign to Spotlight the Lifting Industry

The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) launched its ‘Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up’ campaign during GLAD2025 to spotlight an industry that is essential, yet often overlooked.

30-Second Takeaway LEEA has launched its “Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up” campaign to raise awareness of the lifting sector, attract new talent, and support workforce development. The initiative, unveiled during GLAD2025, is supported by a new microsite designed to promote careers, training, and industry best practice. The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has launched a new industry-wide campaign aimed at increasing visibility of the lifting sector and addressing long-term workforce challenges. Titled “Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up,” the campaign was unveiled during GLAD2025. The initiative is designed to highlight the critical role the lifting industry plays in global infrastructure, transport, energy, and trade while also supporting employers and individuals in building a stronger, more sustainable future workforce. Dedicated Microsite to Support Industry Growth At the centre of the campaign is a new dedicated microsite, leealiftingfutures.com, which will act as an evolving hub for industry engagement. The site is designed to: Raise awareness of the lifting sector Promote careers and training pathways Share real-world case studies from across the industry LEEA has confirmed that the site will be continually updated and is encouraging members to contact the association to be featured in future case studies. Supporting Employers and Workforce Development For employers, the microsite provides access to practical tools and guidance to support: Apprentice recruitment Upskilling of existing teams Attraction of talent with transferable skills Content includes safety-critical recruitment campaigns, workforce development strategies, and case studies aimed at helping businesses operate safely, competently, and compliantly. Opening the Door to Careers in Lifting For individuals considering a career move, the campaign highlights the wide range of opportunities available within the lifting industry — including roles in operations, inspection, engineering, logistics, and safety management. The microsite is aimed at people: Starting their careers Changing direction Transitioning from related sectors such as construction, defence, or manufacturing It also introduces training pathways, including LEEA’s Foundation Certificate, which is designed for those entering the industry at a beginner level. Industry Perspective Commenting on the campaign, Dr. Ross Moloney, CEO of LEEA, said: “Behind every skyline, shipment and structure is a lifting professional – powering progress, protecting lives and building the future. For too long, lifting has been a hidden career path – despite offering rewarding, hands-on roles that make a real impact on safety, progress and global infrastructure. The ‘Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up’ campaign is our response. It’s time to champion the people behind the lifts – and show the world why lifting matters.” About LEEA The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is a global trade association representing organisations involved in the manufacture, supply, inspection, and use of lifting equipment. LEEA works to promote safety, competence, and best practice across the lifting industry through technical guidance, training, and industry leadership.
