The construction industry is constantly changing, with advancements in technology and equipment shaping how businesses operate. DeSantis Crane Service Inc. is adding a Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 mobile crane to its fleet. The Canadian crane service provider will use the 180-tonne crane primarily for lifting prefabricated concrete parts and air conditioning systems. The scope of delivery includes lattice extensions that enable the crane to reach a maximum lifting height of 92 metres.

The Arrival of the Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2

On December 19, 2024, DeSantis Crane Service proudly announced the addition of the Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 to its growing fleet. This powerful 180-tonne mobile crane is designed for a variety of applications, especially in lifting hefty prefabricated concrete components and sophisticated air conditioning systems. Adding this advanced crane is a clear indicator of the company’s efforts to offer top-tier services and maintain a strong footing in a competitive market.

Bridging the gap between DeSantis’s existing LTM 1130-5.1 and LTM 1300-6.2 cranes, the LTM 1160-5.2 reflects a thoughtful approach to fleet expansion. Mark Martino, the owner of DeSantis, expressed confidence in the crane's versatility, which complements the company's operational needs and enhances efficiency.

Exceptional Features of the LTM 1160-5.2

A standout feature of the LTM 1160-5.2 is its impressive lifting height, soaring to a maximum of 92 metres. With a 62-meter telescopic boom, it excels in precision lifting tasks where reach is crucial.

DeSantis also equipped this crane with lattice extensions, a hydraulic double-folding jib, and a 2.9-meter assembly jib, making it highly effective for constructing complex wall elements. These enhancements allow for greater flexibility during various lifting projects, demonstrating a commitment to both efficiency and adaptability.

Sustainable and Efficient Operations

In an age where environmental concerns are paramount, the LTM 1160-5.2 leads the way in sustainable operations. With ECOmode and ECODrive technologies, it can achieve fuel savings of up to 10 percent, significantly cutting down its carbon footprint while contributing to cost savings.

Another remarkable aspect is the VarioBallast® system, which enables the crane to adjust to different site conditions. Whether working in tight urban spaces or under demanding lifting requirements, this feature allows DeSantis to enhance operational productivity. For instance, in past projects, using adaptable cranes like the LTM 1160-5.2 has reduced project completion times by an estimated 15%.

Mark Martino's Vision

Mark Martino firmly believes in the reliability of Liebherr equipment. He stated, “Liebherr stands for trust,” which underscores both the quality of their machinery and the dependability it offers. Liebherr’s longstanding solid reputation simplifies the decision for companies like DeSantis, ensuring they invest in durable and efficient equipment.

Investing in the LTM 1160-5.2 aligns with DeSantis's goal to elevate the level of service for their clients. This advanced crane enables them to take on complex lifting tasks, ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Versatile Applications of the 5-Axle Crane

The new 5-axle crane has become increasingly popular among crane service providers due to its extensive versatility. It can adapt to a variety of work environments, from demanding construction sites requiring heavy lifting to urban areas that call for precision.

DeSantis intends to utilize the LTM 1160-5.2 for large structural projects, including the installation of precast concrete panels and HVAC systems. Its capabilities are expected to enhance project turnaround times and increase overall productivity. For example, DeSantis has previously seen a 20% improvement in efficiency when leveraging versatile cranes in such projects.

Impact on the Industry

The expansion of DeSantis Crane Service Inc.’s fleet with the Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 is a noteworthy development in their growth strategy. By embracing innovations and advanced technology, DeSantis is well-prepared to meet the evolving challenges in the construction industry.

As demand for reliable solutions for complex lifting tasks rises, DeSantis’s investment in the LTM 1160-5.2 illustrates a proactive approach toward enhancing their fleet and ensuring operational excellence. This strategic addition not only strengthens their equipment portfolio but also highlights their dedication to providing high-quality service—a sentiment echoed by Mark Martino regarding trust in Liebherr.

Through strategic investments in state-of-the-art equipment, DeSantis Crane Service exemplifies leadership in the crane service industry while paving the way for sustainable construction practices.
