Mammoet Expands Electric Fleet with Cometto Eco500 Heavy Transporters

30 Second Takeaway

Mammoet has strengthened its zero-emissions on-site offering with the addition of two Cometto Eco500 electric heavy transport vehicles. Designed for confined spaces and indoor operations, the compact transporters support emission-free, low-noise movement of heavy loads while maintaining the flexibility and lifting performance required for complex industrial environments.

Expanding Zero-Emissions Transport Capability

Mammoet has expanded its electric fleet with the purchase of two Eco500 heavy transport vehicles from Cometto, reinforcing its commitment to zero-emissions operations on customer sites.

The electric transporters are designed to support heavy transport activities in environments where emissions must be eliminated, such as indoor facilities, industrial plants, and confined areas that are inaccessible to standard trailers.

Compact Design for Confined Spaces

High Performance in Tight Environments

The Eco500’s compact design enables the movement of heavy cargoes in restricted spaces. This is achieved through the integration of the power pack beneath the loading platform, combined with Cometto’s patented pendulum suspension system.

When fully lowered, the transporter measures just 670 millimetres in height, allowing it to operate in areas with limited headroom while still providing precise control and stability.

Flexible Configuration and Capacity

Modular Setups with Joker Axles

Like larger transporters, the Eco500 is equipped with a lifting cylinder for jacking, offers full freedom of movement in all directions, and is operated via remote control.

Using joker axles, the Eco500 can be configured in multiple arrangements, including two-, three-, or four-axle setups, as well as combined 2 x 4 axle configurations. This flexibility delivers an overall load capacity ranging from 67 to 274 tonnes, allowing the transporter to adapt to a wide variety of applications.

Supporting Safer and Quieter Operations

Reducing Equipment and Site Impact

The introduction of the Eco500 enables more efficient working practices by reducing the amount of equipment required on site. In addition to eliminating emissions, the electric transporter also helps lower operational noise levels, making it well suited to sensitive environments.

The Eco500 joins Mammoet’s growing fleet of electric SPMTs, skidding systems, and cranes, supporting customers in reducing carbon emissions, meeting stricter environmental targets, and progressing toward 2030 sustainability goals.

Industry Perspectives

Investing in Innovation and Sustainability

Ludo Mous, Global Asset Director SPMT at Mammoet, said the investment reflects the company’s focus on innovation.

“We continually strive to make heavy lift and transport projects safer, efficient and more sustainable for our customers.
This is made possible by us developing and investing in new and innovative technologies. The Eco500 is compact, electric, and its lifting system is the same as existing transport equipment – making it a great addition to our fleet.”

Adrian Zingan, Product Manager at Cometto, highlighted the collaboration behind the development.

“When Mammoet approached us with its list of requirements for an electric SPMT, we were delighted with their reaction to the Eco500. The self-propelled transporter is a compact and powerful transport solution for intralogistics, with the electric model offering emission-free driving.”

Ready for Deployment

Supporting Customers’ Sustainability Goals

The Eco500 transporters are now officially part of Mammoet’s electric fleet and ready for use on projects worldwide. Customers seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and eliminate on-site emissions are encouraged to contact their local Mammoet location.
