Nationwide Group Adds Böcker AK 48 Truck Mounted Crane to Fleet

30 Second Takeaway

UK rental specialist Nationwide Group has taken delivery of a six-tonne Böcker AK 48 aluminium truck mounted crane, expanding its capability for high-reach lifting and access work. Launched at Bauma 2022, the AK 48 combines 49-metre tip height, dual-purpose crane and work-platform functionality, and a compact footprint—supporting Nationwide’s continued fleet growth in the UK.

New Böcker AK 48 Strengthens Nationwide Fleet

Nationwide Group, based in Essex, has expanded its crane fleet with the addition of a Böcker AK 48. The new crane supports the company’s operations across mobile crane hire, tower crane hire, and specialist lifting applications.

The AK 48 adds a versatile aluminium truck crane solution capable of both lifting and access tasks from a single machine.

High Reach and Dual-Purpose Capability

The Böcker AK 48, introduced at Bauma 2022, is designed to deliver long reach while maintaining rapid setup and transport efficiency.

Key specifications include:

  • Six-tonne maximum lifting capacity

  • Four-section main boom

  • Three-section telescopic jib

  • 49-metre maximum tip height

  • 40-metre maximum radius

  • Six tonnes at eight metres

  • 1.5 tonnes at 27.5 metres height and 24 metres radius

When configured as a truck mounted work platform, the AK 48 offers:

  • 350 kg platform capacity

  • Tool transport to heights of up to 45.7 metres

This dual-purpose configuration reduces the need for multiple machines on site, improving efficiency and flexibility.

Supporting Team-Led Growth

Commenting on the latest fleet addition, Nationwide Group said:

“A big thank you to our amazing team who make all of this possible – your dedication and hard work drive us forward every day. And to our incredible customers, we’re only just getting started!”

The new AK 48 supports Nationwide’s ambition to continue expanding its lifting and access capabilities while maintaining high service standards.
