New Liebherr 43 K Delivers Precision Performance on Lake Tegernsee Residential Project

30 Second Takeaway

The new Liebherr 43 K fast-erecting crane has proven its capabilities on a single-family home construction project in Rottach-Egern, near Lake Tegernsee. Deployed as the sole crane on site, the compact crane impressed with high lifting capacity, fast assembly, and intelligent assistance systems, enabling precise, safe operation despite restricted space and strict environmental requirements.

Compact Crane Supports Residential Construction at Lake Tegernsee

The construction of a modern single-family home with an underground garage in Rottach-Egern, on the shores of Lake Tegernsee, is being carried out using the new Liebherr 43 K.

The local construction company Peter Karg selected the fast-erecting crane to manage all lifting operations on site, including:

  • Positioning precast basement walls

  • Lifting formwork elements

  • Transporting materials for masonry work

  • Supporting installation of the roof structure

Operating as the only crane on site, the 43 K demonstrated its ability to deliver reliable performance throughout every phase of construction.

Compact, Powerful and Intelligent Crane Design

The Liebherr 43 K, part of the new K-series fast-erecting cranes, combines compact dimensions with impressive lifting performance.

Key technical highlights include:

  • Maximum lifting capacity of 4,000 kg

  • 35-metre radius

  • Hook height exceeding 30 metres

  • Modular design for fast assembly and flexible configuration

These characteristics make the 43 K particularly well suited to restricted plots and environmentally sensitive locations, such as residential projects near Lake Tegernsee.

Advanced Assistance Systems Enhance Precision and Safety

Equipped with Liebherr’s latest generation of assistance systems, the 43 K delivers intelligent features that simplify crane operation and increase on-site safety.

These include:

  • Sway Control Plus for automatic oscillation damping

  • Guided Hook for precise manual load guidance

  • Vertical Line Finder to prevent side pull

  • Positioning Pilot for semi-automated, sway-free positioning

The Positioning Pilot proved especially valuable when installing heavy precast sandwich basement walls, allowing recurring load positions to be approached with exceptional accuracy.

“With the assistance systems we were able to position the precast elements with millimetre precision,” explains Peter Karg, owner of the construction company.“The electronic wind release function and the fast, straightforward assembly also fully convinced us.”

Intelligent Hook Technology Improves Efficiency

Supporting the assistance systems is a battery-powered IMU sensor integrated into the hook. This sensor continuously records movement data and operates without the need for battery replacement.

Together, the systems deliver:

  • Reduced control effort for operators

  • Shorter lifting cycles

  • Increased productivity

  • Noticeable physical relief for crane drivers

This combination ensures smooth, stable lifting, even in confined spaces or challenging wind conditions.

Major Technological Step Forward from the 34 K

The Liebherr 43 K represents a significant technological advancement over its predecessor, the 34 K.

For the first time, the fast-erecting crane operates exclusively in efficient two-fall mode, eliminating the need for time-consuming reeving and delivering higher hoisting and working speeds.

“The new systems on the 43 K make our work so much easier. The crane runs smoothly, is extremely precise to control and was ready for use in no time,” Karg adds.

Compact Performance for Modern Residential Builds

Projects such as this demonstrate how the Liebherr 43 K delivers an exceptional balance of compactness, lifting power, and cutting-edge technology, making it an ideal solution for modern residential construction in sensitive and space-restricted environments.
