Ainscough Releases De-Fleet Cranes Through Ritchie Bros.

UK-based crane rental specialist Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd has completed a full inspection and refurbishment programme on ten all-terrain cranes, which will be offered for sale at Ritchie Bros.’ online auction in Maltby on March 29.

The cranes were prepared at Ainscough’s specialist engineering facility in Stockton-on-Tees, ensuring each unit is ready to return to work immediately after purchase.

Ready-to-Work Cranes with Full Inspection History

Each crane included in the sale has undergone:

  • A detailed inspection

  • Defect rectification

  • Professional presentation to Ainscough operational standards

  • A full online condition report prepared by the Ritchie Bros. Maltby team

Prospective buyers were invited to personally inspect the cranes on March 27 and 28, with an Ainscough crane operator on site on March 27 to provide additional insight.

Protecting Brand Standards Through the De-Fleet Process

Graham Weights, Head of Engineering at Ainscough, explained the company’s approach:

“When someone buys an Ainscough crane, we want them to be able to use it immediately, knowing it has gone through a full detailed inspection process. It’s not just a crane we want to sell at auction; it’s a crane that represents the Ainscough brand.”

This philosophy ensures that Ainscough’s reputation for quality, safety, and reliability extends through the entire asset lifecycle, including resale.

Reinvesting in Fleet Renewal and Operations

The sale of the ten all-terrain cranes forms part of Ainscough’s wider fleet renewal programme, with proceeds being reinvested into new equipment and operational capability.

“Having previously sold our cranes with Ritchie Bros., we know that this final part of our asset lifecycle is in good hands, reflecting the strength of our brand standards to a global audience,”Weights added. “When the new operator gets into the cab, they will be pleasantly surprised with how extensive our inspection service programme is.”

Auction Highlights

Notable machines included in the Maltby auction include:

  • 2006 Liebherr LTM 1070-4.1 – 70-tonne 8×6×8 all-terrain crane

  • 2008 Liebherr LTM 1055-3.2 – 55-tonne 6×6×6 all-terrain crane

  • 2008 Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 – 40-tonne 4×4×4 all-terrain crane

  • And more all-terrain cranes

All units were maintained throughout their working life to Ainscough’s internal engineering standards.

Ritchie Bros. Perspective on the Sale

Laura Roberts, Territory Manager Central West UK at Ritchie Bros., commented:

“Much like Ainscough, we are focused on delivering for our customers through our robust selling and inspection process, giving buyers the confidence to bid on this fleet of high-quality cranes. We’ve worked closely with Ainscough to present the equipment to our global buyer audience. Having visited the Stockton-on-Tees facility and seen the refurbishment programme in action, no expense was spared to prepare each crane for sale.”
