Paramount Platforms Adds 54-Metre Spider Lift to Fleet

30 Second Takeaway

Paramount Platforms has strengthened its high-reach access offering with the addition of a 54-metre Platform Basket 54T spider lift, combining the rigidity of a truck-mounted platform with the compact setup advantages of a spider lift.

Paramount Platforms 54 Metre Spider Lift

UK sales and rental company Paramount Platforms has added a 54-metre spider lift to its growing fleet, further extending its capability at the top end of the spider lift market.

The new machine, a Platform Basket 54T, is one of the largest spider lifts currently available and has already completed its first two jobs shortly after delivery.

Platform Basket 54T Performance

The Platform Basket 54T is configured with:

  • An eight-section telescopic main boom

  • A four-section telescopic jib

This configuration provides:

  • Maximum outreach: almost 21 metres with 136kg in the platform

  • 18.5 metres outreach with the maximum platform capacity of 400kg

  • Maximum up-and-over height: 44 metres, with 15 metres of outreach at that point

These capabilities make the machine suitable for complex access tasks requiring both height and lateral reach.

Compact Transport and Setup

When stowed with the platform installed, the 54T has:

  • Overall length: 9.55 metres

  • Overall width: 2.43 metres

  • Stowed height: 2.77 metres

  • Total weight: 23,000kg

Despite its size and reach, the lift operates within a relatively compact footprint, supporting use in congested urban environments.

Convertible Spider Crane Capability

The 54T can also be converted into a spider crane, offering additional versatility.

In crane configuration, it provides:

  • Maximum capacity: 1,000kg at up to 15 metres radius and 44 metres height

  • 500kg capacity at 19 metres radius and up to 53 metres lift height

This dual-function capability allows the machine to handle both access and lifting tasks on the same site.

Urban-Focused Fleet Expansion

Paramount said the new model bridges the gap between traditional truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts:

“The 54T delivers the rigidity of a large truck-mounted platform while retaining the access and set-up advantages of a spider lift, making it particularly suitable for urban construction, infrastructure maintenance and telecommunications projects.”

Director Lee Kerr added:

“The 54 is city friendly. Why use a large truck when the compact setup area of a spider can minimise the need for expensive and disruptive traffic management?”

A Growing Specialist Fleet

The addition of the 54T brings Paramount Platforms’ spider lift fleet to 55 machines, ranging from 15 to 54 metres.

In addition to spider lifts, the company operates:

  • Boom lifts (primarily from Niftylift)

  • Scissor lifts

  • Mast booms

  • Truck-mounted platforms
