Peab Appoints Peter Lindstedt as CEO of Byggsystem Division

30 Second Takeaway

Nordic construction group Peab has appointed Peter Lindstedt as CEO of Peab Byggsystem, the business unit that includes Lambertsson Sverige and Lambertsson Kran. A Peab veteran of 35 years, Lindstedt steps into the role with responsibility for a division employing 1,400 people, with a focus on supply chain integration, sustainability, early project involvement, and safety leadership.

Leadership Appointment at Peab Byggsystem

Peab has named Peter Lindstedt as the new Chief Executive Officer of Peab Byggsystem, a key business area within the Nordic construction group.

Lindstedt has spent 35 years with Peab, joining the company as an apprentice carpenter and progressing through a range of leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Regional Manager for Peab Building Housing South, overseeing residential construction operations.

Business Unit with Integrated Capabilities

Peab Byggsystem is a diversified business unit employing approximately 1,400 people and encompassing several specialised companies across construction, rental, and prefabrication.

The Byggsystem portfolio includes:

  • Lambertsson Sverige – general equipment rental

  • Lambertsson Kran – crane rental operations in Sweden, Norway, and Finland

  • Byggelement – manufacturer of prefabricated concrete elements

  • Smidmek – structural steel contractor

This structure allows Peab to offer fully integrated construction solutions, from design and prefabrication through to lifting and installation.

Focus on Supply Chain Control and Sustainability

Lindstedt highlighted Peab Byggsystem’s ability to control its own supply chain as a key competitive advantage.

“A major competitive advantage is that we control the entire supply chain ourselves,” said Lindstedt. “At the same time, these companies are leaders in sustainability and demonstrate through their advanced position that there is much to be gained from prefabricated elements compared with casting on site.”

He noted that prefabrication plays a critical role in improving efficiency, quality, and environmental performance across projects.

Early Project Involvement and Material Optimisation

A core priority for Lindstedt will be improving early-stage collaboration across projects.

“Projects must be designed correctly from the outset. We need to be involved at the structural design stage – that is when a structural frame can truly be optimised.”

He also emphasised the importance of expanding expertise across different construction materials:

“We should also be open to gaining deeper knowledge of all materials, such as timber alongside concrete.”

Safety Leadership Informed by Experience

Safety is a central focus of Lindstedt’s leadership approach. He was involved in a serious accident 20 years ago, resulting in a spinal injury, and has since been a wheelchair user.

“We must never compromise on safety, and everyone has a responsibility to follow procedures and guidelines,” Lindstedt said. “Effective safety is a fundamental hygiene factor that I will never let go of.”
