Wanneroo Crane Hire has added a 25 tonne Franna MAC25-5 articulated pick & carry crane to its Western Australian fleet. The crane features an 18.4 metre main boom, a deck-stowed extension providing a maximum tip height of 21.4 metres, and a Mercedes-Benz diesel engine paired with a six speed Allison transmission. It joins the Wangara-based company’s fleet serving construction, mining and industrial customers, which includes Franna cranes up to 40 tonnes and slewing cranes up to 130 tonnes.

A New Franna for Wanneroo’s Western Australian Fleet

Wanneroo Crane Hire has taken delivery of a new 25 tonne Franna MAC25-5 articulated pick & carry crane, adding to its equipment offering for contractors, mining operations and industrial customers across Western Australia.

Based in Wangara on Perth’s northern edge, the company operates a mixed fleet of slewing and articulated cranes. The new MAC25-5 joins a Franna line-up extending to 40 tonnes, alongside machines ranging from a seven tonne Kobelco RK70 to a 130 tonne Grove GMK5130-2.

Franna MAC25-5 Boom and Lifting Performance

The MAC25-5 has an 18.4 metre main boom and a short, deck-stowed extension that increases its maximum tip height to 21.4 metres. The crane can lift its maximum rated capacity of 25 tonnes at a 1.4 metre radius, with capacity reducing to 14.7 tonnes at three metres. It offers a capacity of 1,600kg on full boom, which it can also handle at its maximum working radius of 15.8 metres.

As an articulated pick & carry crane, the MAC25-5 is designed to lift and transport suspended loads within its rated operating limits. Its chassis articulation provides steering, making the configuration suited to tasks involving movement between lifting and placement locations.

Dimensions, Drivetrain and Road Travel

The new crane measures 2.8 metres wide and 3.65 metres high, with an overall chassis length of 7.5 metres. Its operating weight is just under 24 tonnes. Power comes from a Mercedes-Benz diesel engine connected to a six speed Allison transmission. Maximum road speed is 80km/h, approximately 50mph. These specifications combine a 25 tonne lifting class with road travel capability, allowing the machine to serve different work locations within Wanneroo’s operating region.

Updated Controls and Operator Features

Franna’s published specification for the MAC25-5 identifies a Mercedes-Benz OM936 engine rated at 210kW, along with improvements to boom and steering response.

The model incorporates Franna’s Dynamic Load Moment Indicator, which calculates available rated capacity using boom configuration, chassis articulation, pitch and roll. This allows the displayed capacity to respond to changes in the machine’s operating position.

Other published model features include automatic counterweight detection, operator-set working limits and Franna Safety Radar. These are manufacturer specifications for the MAC25-5; the delivery announcement does not provide a separate list of customer-selected options.
