Five Raimondi Tower Cranes Support Dublin’s Southwest Gate Development
30-Second Takeaway
Five Raimondi flat-top tower cranes are supporting construction at Southwest Gate in Dublin. Three 24-tonne T577 cranes handle demanding precast installation work, complemented by two 16-tonne MRT294 models. Supplied by Irish Crane & Lifting, the cranes extend a working relationship with Walls Construction spanning more than a decade.

Five-Crane Fleet for Southwest Gate
Irish Crane & Lifting has supplied five Raimondi tower cranes to contractor Walls Construction for the Southwest Gate mixed-use development in Dublin, Ireland.
The rental package comprises three new Raimondi T577 flat-top cranes and two MRT294 models. The cranes were erected progressively in three installation phases between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the third quarter of 2026.
The T577s are the first of their type deployed by Walls Construction and, at 24 tonnes maximum capacity, are the heaviest lifting cranes in Irish Crane & Lifting’s portfolio.
Raimondi T577 Cranes Handle Heavy Precast Elements
The three T577 cranes were selected for the project’s extensive precast installation requirements. At Southwest Gate, they operate with 50-metre jibs at heights ranging from 48 to 61 metres. Their configured jib-tip capacity reaches 12.38 tonnes in UltraLift mode, supporting the placement of project elements weighing up to 10 tonnes at the jib end.
That combination of capacity and reach allows the cranes to serve installation areas away from their tower positions while handling substantial concrete components.
Inside the Raimondi T577
The Raimondi T577 is a flat-top tower crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 24 tonnes.
Beyond the 50-metre configurations used at Southwest Gate, the model offers a maximum jib radius of 80 metres, with a 3.41-tonne tip capacity in UltraLift mode at that radius.
Its 110 kW hoisting system provides a maximum lifting speed of 110 metres per minute and a rope drum capacity of 1,030 metres. Maximum hoisting speed depends on the operating configuration and load.
The model features Raimondi’s Lumina cabin and ConCore control technology, supporting commissioning, calibration and troubleshooting during operation.
Two MRT294 Cranes Complement the T577s
The two Raimondi MRT294 cranes provide additional lifting coverage across the development. Each has a maximum lifting capacity of 16 tonnes. At Southwest Gate, they are configured with 40-metre jibs and erected at heights of 38 and 40 metres.
The five-crane arrangement distributes lifting resources across the project, with the larger T577 models assigned to the demanding precast work.
More Than a Decade of Collaboration
Irish Crane & Lifting director Robert Coffey said the supply continues a longstanding partnership with Walls Construction.
“We have been working with Walls Construction for more than 10 years on some of the country's most significant developments, including College Square, Grand Canal Harbour, and Rathborne Wharf.”
He added:
“These five machines, including three heavy lift models, represent another important milestone in our collaboration.”
The Southwest Gate package brings additional heavy-lifting capacity into that relationship as work progresses across the development.
Southwest Gate to Deliver More Than 1,100 Homes
Located in Dublin 12, Southwest Gate is a major mixed-use development that will include more than 1,100 homes alongside retail and commercial space. Raimondi identifies the project as being delivered by O’Flynn Group in partnership with the Land Development Agency. Its scale makes coordinated lifting coverage an important part of construction planning across the site.
