Cutting Edge Consulting Brings Crane Power and Christmas Magic to Kamloops Parade

Updated: Dec 28, 2025

30-Second Takeaway

Cutting Edge Consulting Inc. (CEC) turned its newly delivered Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1 all-terrain crane into a festive locomotive for the 2024 Santa Claus Parade in Kamloops, Canada. Working with the City of Kamloops, CEC employees transformed the crane to match the parade’s “Christmas Movie Magic” theme, drawing inspiration from The Polar Express. The project highlighted both technical creativity and strong community engagement, attracting attention for features such as crab steering and detailed festive design.

Crane Meets Christmas Movie Magic

Technology and festive spirit came together at the 2024 Santa Claus Parade in Kamloops, British Columbia, as employees of Cutting Edge Consulting Inc. (CEC) presented a highly creative crane transformation to the public.

The parade, held in downtown Kamloops in late November, carried the theme “Christmas Movie Magic.” In response, CEC transformed its brand-new Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1 all-terrain crane into a Christmas locomotive inspired by the film The Polar Express. Complete with a matching passenger wagon, festive detailing, a working horn, and simulated steam effects, the crane quickly became one of the parade’s standout attractions.

Families and children lined the streets, with many spectators seeing a crane in motion up close for the first time. Particular attention was drawn to the crane’s crab steering, a maneuver that allowed the crane to move sideways, a capability unfamiliar to many parade-goers and a highlight of the display.

A project for community and Christmas magic

The transformation was the result of a joint effort between CEC employees and the City of Kamloops. Under the direction of Duke Piquette, a key member of CEC’s workshop team, employees designed and built the accompanying passenger carriage and applied numerous Christmas-themed details to complete the locomotive effect.

According to Briar Beers of CEC, the project reflected the company’s culture and its connection to the local community. Liebherr sales representative Simon Schuster also noted that the LTM 1120-4.1 demonstrated its versatility by drawing attention not only on construction sites, but also in unique public settings.

“We are incredibly proud of our team, who have put their heart and soul into this project,” says Briar Beers from CEC. “Every year, the parade is a great opportunity for us to connect with the local community and other local businesses.” And Simon Schuster, sales representative at Liebherr adds: “Our LTM 1120-4.1 showed at the parade that it not only delivers top performance on the construction site, but also attracts attention on unusual jobs.”
