30-Second Takeaway

Liebherr Game of Cranes has returned for its second edition, with nominations open from 1 October to 13 November 2026. Liebherr mobile crane customers worldwide can nominate operators through their company’s MyLiebherr account administrator. Public voting and expert assessment will determine qualification for five regional competitions, with one winner from each progressing to the final. The finalists will compete at Liebherr’s Ehingen facility in Germany during Customer Days in June 2027, demonstrating safety, dexterity and technical understanding.

Liebherr Game of Cranes

Liebherr has opened nominations for the second edition of its international mobile crane operator competition. The entry period runs until 13 November 2026, with both company nominations and operator application materials required by that date.

The competition recognises operator skills and the companies supporting their training and development. Entries can feature Liebherr mobile cranes ranging from two axle machines to 1,200 tonne units, with qualification determined through public voting and expert evaluation.

Nomination and Application Process

Nominations must be submitted through the online form by the administrator of the company’s MyLiebherr account. The nominated operator then receives an email link to upload a photograph and application video.

Liebherr’s entry guidance also requires operators to have a MyLiebherr account linked to their employer’s corporate account and to be assigned the “Game of Cranes” role. Application materials include a portrait photograph taken in front of a crane, a short skills video and professional career information.

Public Voting and Expert Assessment

Valid applications will enter a public online vote, while a panel of Liebherr experts assesses the submissions in parallel. The two assessments are combined to determine the qualification ranking.

The official competition page states that voting will begin on 16 November 2026, with one vote permitted per person each day. Expert assessment considers crane operating skills, operational safety and the quality of the submitted video.

Five Regional Qualifying Competitions

The five highest-ranked operators in each region will progress to a practical qualifying event at a Liebherr location. Each regional winner will represent their company in the international final.

Liebherr’s current competition page lists the following qualifying locations and regional groupings:

  • USA: North America.

  • Mexico: Central and South America.

  • Netherlands: Europe.

  • South Africa: Africa.

  • Hong Kong: Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The regional events will use real cranes and loads in practical operating challenges.

Final at Ehingen in June 2027

The five regional winners will compete at Liebherr’s Ehingen plant in southern Germany in June 2027. The final will take place during the manufacturer’s Customer Days, where more than 3,000 visitors are expected.

Finalists will be assessed on safety, dexterity and technical understanding. Reigning champion Scott White of City Lifting will contribute his experience and expertise to the final.

The top three finishers will earn Liebherr Shop vouchers for their companies: €2,500 for first place, €1,250 for second and €500 for third. Liebherr states that the vouchers have no expiry date and can be used across multiple purchases.
