Liebherr Mobile Construction Cranes Demonstrated on International MK Roadshow

30 Second Takeaway

Liebherr has taken its MK mobile construction crane concept on an international roadshow across Eastern Europe and South America, combining live demonstrations with direct customer engagement. The tour highlighted the flexibility, efficiency and electrified operation of MK cranes, generating strong interest and resulting in the first machine sale directly from the roadshow.

Bridging the Gap Between Tower and Mobile Cranes

Modern construction sites particularly in urban environments require lifting solutions that combine fast mobilisation, compact footprint and low-emission operation. Liebherr’s MK mobile construction cranes are designed to bridge the gap between traditional stationary tower cranes and conventional mobile cranes, offering a hybrid solution for diverse applications.

Roadshows and live demonstrations play a key role in allowing contractors to evaluate such concepts in real-world conditions rather than relying solely on specifications.

Global MK Roadshow Across Key Markets

Organised by Liebherr’s Ehingen plant, the MK roadshow has toured multiple regions over recent months with the aim of raising awareness and demonstrating the benefits of the MK concept directly on site.

From October to mid-November, Liebherr presented the MK cranes in:

  • Poland

  • Czechia

  • Hungary

  • Romania

Demonstrations were held at Liebherr branches, active construction sites and customer premises.

Earlier in the year, the roadshow also visited Chile and Peru, with MK cranes showcased at major industry events including:

  • Expomin

  • Perumin

In addition to trade fairs, exclusive customer demonstrations were conducted to highlight practical applications.

Live Demonstrations and Customer Engagement

A central element of the roadshow was hands-on demonstration. Customers were able to see the MK cranes set up and operated live, while engaging directly with Liebherr experts in one-to-one discussions focused on application-specific requirements.

The demonstrations emphasised real-world usability, with Liebherr sales personnel themselves assembling and operating the cranes illustrating the simplicity and practicality of the concept.

Key Advantages of the MK Concept

The Liebherr MK mobile construction crane concept is designed around flexibility and efficiency, offering several distinguishing features:

  • Taxi crane principle, enabling rapid deployment and multiple site changes in a single day

  • Single-person operation, covering both assembly and crane operation

  • Vertical tower design and compact footprint, ideal for confined urban environments

  • Suitability for handling operations, general construction and photovoltaic system installation

  • Lift cab and modern assistance systems, enhancing operator comfort and safety

Electrified and Future-Oriented Operation

MK cranes feature fully electrified operation, supporting:

  • Emission-free

  • Low-noise

  • Cost-efficient lifting

Power options include:

  • Construction site power supply

  • Integrated power generator

  • Independent energy storage units such as the Liduro Power Port, enabling self-sufficient operation

This flexibility allows MK cranes to operate efficiently across a wide range of site conditions while supporting sustainability goals.

Strong Market Response and First Sale

Customer response throughout the roadshow was described as highly positive. In addition to multiple enquiries, the first MK crane sale has already been concluded, with the machine delivered directly to a customer following the demonstrations.

Encouraged by the reception, Liebherr has confirmed that additional MK roadshow events are planned, including stops in Norway in the coming year.
