30-Second Takeaway
Hamburg-based crane hire and logistics specialist Gustav Seeland GmbH has expanded its fleet with the delivery of a Grove GMK5250XL-1 all-terrain crane. The 250-tonne crane becomes the strongest and longest mobile crane in Seeland’s fleet, supporting complex lifting and transport requirements across construction, energy, and infrastructure projects.

New Grove All-Terrain Crane Delivered in Hamburg
German crane hire company Gustav Seeland GmbH, based in Hamburg, has taken delivery of a new Grove GMK5250XL-1 all-terrain crane.
The crane was officially handed over last week by Manitowoc, marking another significant fleet investment for Seeland as it continues to expand its lifting capabilities.
250-Tonne Capacity Becomes Fleet Flagship
The Grove GMK5250XL-1 is a 250-tonne mobile crane equipped with a 78.5-metre main boom, making it the strongest and longest mobile crane in Seeland’s highly professional crane fleet.
The combination of long reach and high lifting performance positions the crane as a key asset for demanding lifting and transport operations.

Managing Director Highlights Fleet Fit
Commenting on the delivery, Johann Evers, Managing Director of Gustav Seeland GmbH, said:
“Due to the enormous reach and strong lifting capacities, our new GROVE crane fits perfect into our fleet to provide professional lifting and transport solutions to our clients on their wide range of construction, energy and infrastructure projects.”
Strong Load Charts and Long Main Boom Performance
The GMK5250XL-1 delivers strong lifting capacities across its working range. With the fully extended 78.5-metre main boom, the crane is capable of lifting 9.9 tonnes at a 22-metre radius, supporting high-reach and heavy-lift applications without the need for additional crane classes.

Compact Design for Tight Jobsites
Despite its performance, the GMK5250XL-1 remains well suited to confined and congested job sites. Compact overall length, reduced boom overhang, and a very compact outrigger footprint of just 7.8 metres enable efficient setup and operation in restricted spaces.
The crane can be equipped with the optional MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning system, which offers more than 40 outrigger configurations and increased load capacities compared with standard 360° load curves, delivering greater flexibility on site.
Efficient Single-Engine Powertrain and Operator Technologies
Power is provided by a Mercedes single-engine design meeting Euromot V emission standards and compatible with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel. The integrated fuel saver system helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% compared with earlier five-axle crane models with previous emission stages.
Standard features include MEGATRAK® independent suspension, all-wheel steering, and the new boom configurator, which supports fast and optimised boom setup.
Optional visibility enhancements include a 270° bird-view camera system and a boom head camera with zoom, improving situational awareness and safety during lifting operations.
