Faymonville Transport Systems Support Blade Delivery at South Korea’s Uiseong Hwanghaksan Wind Farm

The turbines are designed with: Rotor diameters of up to 170 metres Tower heights of approximately 180 metres Once completed, the wind farm is expected to generate around 146,000 MWh of electricity annually , providing renewable power for more than 40,000 households . Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in May 2026 . Transporting 85-Metre Wind Turbine Blades One of the most technically challenging aspects of the project has been the transport of large turbine blades measuring 85 metres in length and weighing approximately 28 tonnes . South Korean heavy transport specialist Anjeon Enterprise Co., Ltd.  developed a two-phase logistics strategy  to safely move the blades across mountainous terrain. The transport solution combines: Faymonville WingMAX flatbed trailers Cometto BladeMAX1000 blade lifters mounted on SPMTs This coordinated approach allows oversized turbine blades to be transported efficiently through narrow roads and steep gradients . WingMAX Trailers Handle Initial Transport Phase In the first phase of the transport operation, three-axle WingMAX trailers  are used to move turbine blades from the port and staging areas to an intermediate logistics location. The trailers are equipped with features designed for difficult terrain, including: Pendle axle suspension  for improved manoeuvrability Hydraulically adjustable gooseneck  for improved load positioning Enhanced stability on mountain roads and narrow village routes These capabilities allow the large blades to be transported safely along forested routes and constrained roadways  leading toward the wind farm site. BladeMAX1000 Enables Final Site Delivery During the second transport phase, the blades are transferred to the Cometto BladeMAX1000 , mounted on self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) . The BladeMAX1000 is designed to handle large wind turbine blades and is considered one of the most powerful blade lifters available. The system allows blades to be: Elevated up to 60 degrees Rotated 360 degrees This capability is essential for navigating the final 15-kilometre route to the wind farm , which includes gradients of up to 11 percent  and several tight curves.
