The agreement with Synera Renewables Taiwan will see the company deliver 35 units of its PF 200 fully electric offshore cranes. The project represents Palfinger’s eleventh offshore wind project in Taiwan and the ninth wind farm in the country equipped with its service platform cranes. The cranes will be installed on jacket foundations supporting Siemens Energy wind turbines, providing lifting support for maintenance and service operations once the wind farm becomes operational. Formosa 4 Wind Farm Project Overview The Formosa 4 offshore wind farm will be located approximately 18 to 20 kilometres off the coast of Miaoli County in Taiwan. The wind farm will cover an area of around 58 square kilometres and have a total installed capacity of 495 MW. Once operational, the project will play an important role in Taiwan’s renewable energy transition, helping expand the country’s clean electricity supply. Offshore wind developments like Formosa 4 are a central part of Taiwan’s strategy to increase renewable power generation and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. PF 200 Electric Offshore Cranes Under the agreement, Palfinger will supply 35 PF 200 offshore cranes, each featuring a seven metre outreach. The cranes are designed specifically for offshore wind applications and incorporate several operational advantages. According to Palfinger, the cranes feature: Fully electric drive systems Modular design architecture High corrosion resistance for marine environments Simplified maintenance requirements Alexander Lee, Regional Sales Director APAC at Palfinger, said the cranes help improve installation efficiency and operational safety. The modular design allows developers to minimise vessel time during installation, reducing costs while improving project scheduling and safety. Expanding Palfinger’s Presence in Taiwan Delivery of the cranes is scheduled between the second and third quarters of 2026, with installation and commissioning planned within the same year. Once the Formosa 4 project is completed, the total number of Palfinger offshore wind cranes operating in Taiwan will reach 271 units. Iavor M.
