  • New Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1 for McGovern Crane Hire Ltd

The Stage V emissions compliant crane features a seven section 66 metre main telescopic boom and has been specified with a 10.8 to 19 metre double fly jib, with hydraulic control for offset 0 to 40 degrees. The crane has been supplied with a camera for the boom head, full remote control as well as Liebherr’s unique VarioBase® and VarioBallast® systems. Kieran McGovern said: ‘The addition of this new LTM1120 feels like a natural progression for us. We’ve always run a compact 4-axle machine but the new LTM1120 will give us even more scope than the previous cranes with its impressive 66 meter boom. These days our fleet is almost exclusively Liebherr which is an advantage for all of our team as we now have an excellent understanding of the Liebherr operating systems that have continuity throughout the fleet. The LTM 1120 hit the road immediately with an eight-week hire in the south, making great use of VarioBase, VarioBallast and the boom head camera.’

  • Osprey Group Have Added Two New Crawler Cranes to their Fleet : A 400-ton Demag CC2400-1 and a 650-ton Demag CC3800-1.

The 400-ton Demag CC2400-1 will be dispatched to its first project within the next few weeks, while the 650-ton Demag CC3800-1 will arrive early in February 2023. After commissioning, this will be ready for new projects at the beginning of March.   Simon Massy, Managing Director, Osprey Heavy Lift: “As a logistics’ provider with its own inventory, we try to pre-empt our clients’ needs for the long term. Alongside its 400-ton counterpart, the 650-ton Demag will join a very small handful of UK based heavy lift cranes that are fully compliant with the NRMM emission controls for major projects within London and the HS2 Project. We believe those criteria may develop into a minimum standard, as the transition to net zero brings the emphasis further into the logistics supply chain.”   The 650-ton crane will be equipped with luffing jib, Superlift, and wind farm kit. The wind farm kit will enable it to achieve main boom lengths up to 159 metres with a wind farm fly jib fitted. Simon: “We see these new assets as a major part of our business plan going forward. It’s vital, from our perspective, to hold the right inventory so that we can provide confidence for project managers thinking long-term. We’re a major supplier to both the low carbon and renewable energy sectors already. This will strengthen our proposition for other sectors too, such as core infrastructure, and we’re planning more additions to the fleet over the next 12 months as part of our ongoing expansion.

  • Tutt Bryant Orders Two New Grove Cranes for major LNG project

A large and varied fleet of Grove all-terrain cranes worked on the second stage of a major turnaround project at one of the world’s largest, most complex LNG processing facilities – the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNGM processing facility near Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory. For the first stage of the turnaround, nationwide fleet hire and logistics solutions provider Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift sent a fleet of mobile cranes, mostly made up of Grove all-terrain cranes. Then for the second stage of the work, it sent an additional GMK6400 and GMK5250XL-1 to support operations. As with the first stage, Manitowoc supplied 24/7 onsite technical support with two senior technicians who provided full-time coverage on a rotating basis. In addition to the new arrivals, the existing Grove fleet on the job was a mix of four-, five- and six-axle all-terrain models. A 90 t GMK4090 plus two 100 t GMK4100L-1 units; a 95 t GMK5095 , 130 t GMK5130-2 , and 150 t GMK5150L ; plus two 300 t GMK6300L cranes. “We carefully selected this fleet to provide a good mix of capacities for maximum flexibility, with their class-leading boom lengths providing optimized access to all areas of the plant,” said Rob West, senior divisional manager at Tutt Bryant. “We added the new models for extra capacity, fleet refreshment, and to provide more versatility. The long-boom GMK5250XL-1 means it can take on work where we previously relied on larger cranes. We purchased the GMK6400 because we knew we could use it for some heavier tasks, but we also knew we’d get good utilization from it in the future.”

  • Three of the Worlds largest Liebherr STS Cranes Head State Side

If you live in Cobh, Ireland you will have noticed your skyline has changed for the last few months, this is due to the 3 monster Liebherr container cranes that have been built at Doyle’s ship yard. The cranes that when fully assembled will be 150m high are due to set sail for the port of New Jersey very soon. The 3 cranes loaded onto the Big lift transport ship Liebherr use the port facility based in Cork to assemble the 3 cranes with their own LR1600’s when the client doesn’t have the room on site, this way they can build and ship them with very minimal disruption to what is a busy port in America. The Liebherr assembly facility in Cobh the cranes are being transported partly assembled, as they will have to pass under the Bayonne Bridge connecting Bayonne in New Jersey with Staten Island, which has a clearance of 66 metres. The upper structures - boom, beam and A-frame - will be shipped resting on the deck for the duration of the voyage. The cranes were commissioned from Liebherr last year by US container terminal operator Maher Terminals, which is based in the Port of New York and New Jersey. once the tidal connections are right, the transport ship will pass under the Bayonne Bridge - with a clearance of about 50cms - before it completes its short journey to Maher Terminals, where the cranes will be fully assembled and commissioned by a team from Liebherr in Killarney.

  • Triple Tadano's for NKS Niessen Kranservice

When NKS Niessen Kranservice Managing Director Alexander Niessen picked up the first of his two new Tadano AC 4.110-1 all terrain cranes back in the late summer of 2022, he predicted that it would definitely not be the last Tadano in his fleet – and his prediction has been proven right: At the end of the year, NKS Niessen Kranservice was once again present in Lauf, but with Sebastian Niessen, to take delivery of a new Tadano AC 4.070L-1. This will then be followed by the second AC 4.110-1 in the spring/summer of this year: “As far as we’re concerned, everything about Tadano is perfect for us: The service is excellent, the quality of the products is beyond reproach, and even the price–performance ratio is perfect. That’s why we decided to get another Tadano after the AC 4.110-1, except this time around it’s an AC 4.070L-1,” he explained when picking up the new machine. Both cranes were handed over by Tadano Sales Manager Manfred Drößer. When it came to the equipment for its new Tadano AC 4.110-1, NKS Niessen went with all the bells and whistles and prepared it optimally for an extremely wide range of applications: A runner with a 2nd winch for rotating prefab concrete elements, additional floodlights for optimally illuminating work areas, and even the full gamut of counterweight options – with the nine-piece additional counterweight of 27.4 tonnes, the Tadano AC 4.110-1 can reach its maximum counterweight of 30.4 tonnes. The crane experts from Mönchengladbach mention the 52.1-meter-long main boom, with which the crane can lift up to 5.8 tonnes at its full boom length, as the foremost reason to get the AC 4.070L-1. Other plus factors for Alexander and Sebastian Niessen included the innovative AML-F crane control system and the flexible counterweight splitting system, which makes it possible to get axle loads of 10 tonnes. And last but not least, the cranes feature the Smart Chart system: Whenever a job site makes it impossible to extend all outriggers fully or work with the full counterweight, the Tadano Smart Chart enables the operator to take advantage of the cranes’ maximum available lifting capacity. To achieve this, the system expands the customary circular work area as a function of the selected outrigger configuration, significantly increasing available lifting capacity: A longer radius with the same maximum load or a greater maximum load with the same radius. “These two Tadano's have already put us in a perfect position to take care of our concrete construction, assembly work, and large crane erection projects,” Alexander Niessenh appily says about his new acquisitions. On top of all this, the company will be picking up its second AC 4.110-1 in Lauf later this year.
