Bronzeshield Takes Delivery of 250-Tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1
UK rental company Bronzeshield has taken delivery of a 250-tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1 All Terrain crane as part of an ongoing fleet renewal and modernisation initiative.
The latest delivery joins two other recent Grove additions to the company’s fleet: the 300-tonne Grove GMK6300L-1 and the 150-tonne Grove GMK5150XL, reinforcing Bronzeshield’s focus on high-capacity, versatile lifting solutions.
Technical Specifications and Capabilities
The Grove GMK5250XL-1 is equipped with an eight-section 78.5-metre main boom, providing strong reach and flexibility for a wide range of lifting operations. The crane is topped by an 18-metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which can be increased to 34 metres using additional inserts.
Key features include Grove’s Maxbase variable outrigger system and all-wheel steering, enhancing setup flexibility and manoeuvrability on constrained sites. The crane is powered by a single Stage V Mercedes diesel engine, which is HVO-ready, supporting reduced emissions and improved environmental performance.
Specialist Configuration for Project Work
Bronzeshield has also specified the crane with an auxiliary winch, enabling it to support specialist lifting projects. The configuration is intended for work with long-term customer Simmons Industrial Services, as well as collaborative projects with fellow UK crane company Lee Lifting.
The official handover of the new crane included representatives from both companies, with Bill Frost of Bronzeshield joined by James Leishman of Grove/Manitowoc during the delivery.
