Felbermayr Expands Heavy Assembly Capabilities with Hoffmann Equipment Acquisition

30-Second Takeaway

Felbermayr Group has acquired specialised heavy lifting and transport equipment from Hoffmann Spezialtransporte, including 1,000 tonne gantry systems and Sefiro transporters. The move enhances Felbermayr’s ability to deliver complex heavy assembly and engineered project solutions across its European operations.

Felbermayr strengthens heavy assembly capabilities with acquisition

The Felbermayr Group has expanded its heavy assembly capabilities following the acquisition of specialised equipment from Hoffmann Spezialtransporte.

The transfer of assets was completed in mid-March after company founder Olaf Hoffmann retired from operational business. The newly acquired equipment will be integrated across Felbermayr’s heavy installation and engineered solutions divisions, as well as its subsidiaries Jozef Hermans and Wimmer Maschinentransporte.

Acquisition includes 1,000 tonne gantry systems and transporters

The acquisition significantly enhances Felbermayr heavy assembly capabilities, with key additions including two heavy-duty lifting gantries, each with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes.

The deal also includes Sefiro self-propelled transporters, along with a large inventory of steel beams and structural components used in complex heavy installation operations.

The gantry systems will primarily be deployed within Felbermayr’s Engineered Solutions division and by Jozef Hermans, supporting large-scale lifting and installation projects.

Enhanced flexibility for complex project execution

According to Peter Stöttinger, managing director of Felbermayr Transport- und Hebetechnik, the additional equipment significantly expands the company’s technical capabilities.

The strengthened Felbermayr heavy assembly capabilities will enable the group to deliver more flexible, customised, and comprehensive solutions for demanding client projects.

Kees Kompier, head of Engineered Solutions at Felbermayr, added that heavy lifting projects are often highly tailored, and the new equipment allows for more precise alignment with specific project requirements.

Deployment across subsidiaries and regional operations

The Sefiro self-propelled transporters will be operated by Jozef Hermans in the Netherlands, where they will support complex industrial relocations and internal factory moves.

Meanwhile, Wimmer Maschinentransporte will utilise the additional equipment for machinery relocation and installation projects, further extending the group’s operational reach.

Increased capacity for time-critical projects

Felbermayr stated that the acquisition will significantly increase its operational capacity, enabling faster response times for time-critical heavy transport and installation projects.

The expanded Felbermayr heavy assembly capabilities position the group to better support large-scale infrastructure, industrial, and engineered lifting operations across Europe.
