LGH Expands Heavy Lifting Fleet with Holmatro, Green Pin and Enerpac Equipment

LGH has expanded its rental fleet with specialist equipment for heavy rigging, skidding, hydraulic lifting and load measurement. Additions include a 400/800 tonne Holmatro skidding system, 800 and 1,000 tonne Green Pin shackles, 520 tonne Enerpac cylinders and 500 tonne Crosby Straightpoint load shackles. The investment supports projects involving heavier loads, restricted headroom and tighter positioning requirements. LGH Europe says the purchases form part of its largest fleet investment programme to date, with further additions planned before the financial year closes.

LGH

Lifting equipment hire specialist LGH has invested in higher-capacity equipment to support increasingly complex engineered lifting projects. The additions cover several distinct stages of heavy lifting and machinery movement: connecting loads, moving equipment horizontally, applying hydraulic lifting force and measuring loads during an operation.

LGH says the expanded range is intended to support customers across energy, offshore, infrastructure, industrial and heavy manufacturing markets.

Andy Mault, CEO of LGH Europe, said:

“Our investment strategy is driven by what our customers are facing on the ground: heavier loads, tighter tolerances and more complex engineered lifting requirements. The latest additions are not standard rental market items, they are specialist, high-capacity tools designed for projects where technical knowledge, experience and the right equipment are critical.”

Holmatro Skidding System for Restricted Headroom

The new 400/800 tonne Holmatro skidding system provides a controlled method of moving heavy equipment where available headroom makes conventional crane lifting impractical.

Typical applications include transformer relocation, machinery installation and movement of heavy industrial assets.

Skidding equipment allows a load to move along a prepared track arrangement, giving project teams an alternative for locations where an overhead lifting solution cannot readily be accommodated. The addition broadens LGH’s equipment offering for projects that require both substantial capacity and controlled horizontal movement.

Green Pin Shackles Support 1,500-Tonne MEGAMOD Rigging

LGH has purchased Green Pin shackles with capacities of 800 and 1,000 tonnes.

The shackles complement its 1,500 tonne MEGAMOD spreader beam, providing high-capacity connections for demanding rigging arrangements. Applications identified by LGH include offshore operations, heavy onshore lifts and load-testing programmes. The investment expands the rigging options available around the beam. It does not change the beam’s stated 1,500 tonne capacity.

Enerpac Cylinders Add Hydraulic Lifting Capacity

New 520 tonne Enerpac hydraulic cylinders strengthen LGH’s hydraulic equipment range.

The cylinders are intended for heavy engineering applications requiring substantial lifting force in a compact arrangement. LGH identifies bridge construction and refurbishment, structural realignment and major civil engineering works among the applications. They complement the skidding and rigging additions by supporting projects where loads must be raised, supported or adjusted before movement or installation.

Crosby Straightpoint Shackles for Load Measurement

The investment also includes 500 tonne Crosby Straightpoint wireless load shackles.

These provide load measurement within the rigging arrangement, supporting monitoring during lifting and testing operations. LGH says their compact design is particularly useful in confined rigging configurations. They supplement the company’s existing load links and load cells, expanding the options available for measuring forces during heavy lifting work.

Additional Pulling Equipment and Snatch Blocks

LGH’s wider investment programme includes additional Habegger Hit-Tracs in 1.6, 3.2 and 6.4 tonne capacities, together with 150 tonne snatch blocks. The Hit-Tracs support pulling, lifting and lowering applications, while the snatch blocks add options for infrastructure, ship repair, offshore and machinery-moving projects.

In its October announcement, LGH said further investment was planned before year-end, with equipment selection guided by project requirements and the technical support needed to deploy it.

About LGH

LGH, originally known as Lifting Gear Hire, was founded by Bill Parkinson in the Manchester area in 1970. It developed from a UK lifting equipment hire business into an international operation with activities in Europe and North America.

The company specialises in hiring equipment for lifting and moving loads, from manual handling tools and hydraulic cylinders to spreader beams and engineered lifting systems.

Its service combines equipment supply with technical advice and on-site expertise, helping customers select equipment for project-specific requirements. The latest investment expands that offering at the higher-capacity end of the rental fleet.
