Updated: Jan 20

30 Second Takeaway

Southern Cranes & Access (SCA) has taken delivery of the first Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 in the UK, coinciding with the company’s 25th anniversary and the completion of a full rebrand. The 300-tonne, six-axle crane becomes the first in the fleet to feature the new livery and underlines SCA’s long-standing reputation for introducing landmark Liebherr models to the UK market.

Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3

A Landmark Delivery for Southern Cranes & Access

UK-based Southern Cranes & Access (SCA) has taken delivery of the first Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 in the country. The arrival of the crane aligns with two significant company milestones: 25 years of trading and the completion of a new corporate rebrand.

The new LTM 1300-6.3 is the first crane in the SCA fleet to showcase the updated design and livery, signalling the next chapter in the company’s continued growth and investment strategy.

Versatile Six-Axle Performance

A Fast-Erecting, Economical Heavy Lifter

The six-axle, single-engine Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 is designed to deliver strong lifting performance while maintaining efficiency and fast mobilisation. The crane features a 90-metre main boom and incorporates Liebherr’s latest technologies to enhance safety, productivity and fuel efficiency.

Key features include:

  • ECOmode and ECOdrive for reduced fuel consumption

  • VarioBase®Plus for flexible outrigger positioning

  • VarioBallast® and Auto-Ballast systems

  • Windspeed load charts for enhanced operational safety

The crane has been supplied with a double fly jib with hydraulic offset, a refinery kit, and a boom head camera, making it well suited to a wide range of industrial, infrastructure and commercial lifting projects.

Completing the 2022 Delivery Programme

Looking Ahead to 2023

The LTM 1300-6.3 marks the final Liebherr delivery for Southern Cranes & Access in 2022. However, fleet investment is set to continue, with further orders already confirmed for 2023.

Upcoming deliveries include:

  • Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1

  • Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2

  • Liebherr LTM 1055-3.2

  • Two Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 models

These additions will further modernise the fleet and strengthen SCA’s ability to support complex lifting operations across its operating region.

Company Perspective

Kelvin Prince, Director at Southern Cranes & Access, said:

“As the company who took delivery of the UK’s first crane with VarioBase®, the UK’s first LTM 1090-4.2, the UK’s first MK88 and MK140 tower cranes, it made perfect sense for us to showcase the first 90-metre telescopic six-axle machine in the UK. With the fleet additions we have coming in 2023 we, along with a few others, will have the most up to date fleet in the UK. We are pleased to be celebrating 25 years in the industry and thank our staff, customers and Liebherr for their continued support. We look forward to another 25 years.”
