Southern Cranes & Access Continues ‘Refinery Ready’ Liebherr Fleet Expansion

Updated: Jan 20

30 Second Takeaway

Southern Cranes & Access Ltd is continuing to build a dedicated fleet of refinery-ready Liebherr cranes, with several new machines already delivered and more due to arrive in the coming months. The West Sussex-based company committed in 2022 to equipping all new Liebherr models with engine shut-down refinery kits, strengthening its ability to support complex industrial and refinery projects safely and efficiently.

Building a Dedicated Refinery-Ready Fleet

Southern Cranes & Access Ltd has taken delivery of further Liebherr cranes as part of its ongoing investment in a fleet specifically configured for refinery and sensitive industrial environments.

The West Sussex-based company made a commitment in 2022 that all new Liebherr cranes entering its fleet would be fitted with engine shut-down refinery kits, ensuring compliance with strict safety and operational requirements at refinery and petrochemical sites.

First Deliveries Set the Standard

From Commitment to Reality

The first crane delivered under this initiative was a Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3, equipped with a double fly jib and Variobase® outrigger system, which arrived just under a year ago.

This was followed in November by a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3, notable not only as the first of its type in the UK, but also as the first machine to feature Southern Cranes & Access’ new branding and livery, now being rolled out across the fleet.

Momentum Continues into 2023

New Arrivals Strengthen Capability

A Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 arrived in January, marking the start of the company’s 2023 deliveries. The crane incorporates Liebherr’s TELEMATIK single-cylinder telescoping system, improving speed and efficiency during boom extension.

Its ability to carry the majority of its counterweight on the road allows the crane to begin work immediately upon arrival on site, reducing set-up time and improving operational efficiency.

Most recently, a Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 fitted with a fly jib and hydraulic offset has joined the fleet, further enhancing lifting flexibility across industrial and commercial projects.

More Refinery-Equipped Cranes to Follow

Further Deliveries Scheduled

Southern Cranes & Access has confirmed that the fleet expansion will continue in the coming months, with three additional refinery-equipped Liebherr cranes already earmarked for delivery.

Coming soon:

  • Liebherr LTM 1055-3.1

  • Two Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 models

These additions will further strengthen the company’s ability to support refinery, energy and industrial clients across its operating region.

Company Perspective
