30 Second Takeaway
Tusker Construction Group has added five new Grove all-terrain cranes to its fleet: one GMK6300L-1, two GMK5120L models and two GMK3060L-1s. The Irish company made the investment after deciding in 2025 to switch from buying used cranes to purchasing new equipment. The cranes are supplied and supported by Irlequip, which provides an extended warranty, parts and service support. The machines are available for projects in Ireland and the UK.

Tusker invests in five new Grove cranes
Family-owned Tusker Construction Group has expanded its crane fleet with five new Grove all-terrain cranes. The order includes one six-axle GMK6300L-1, two five-axle GMK5120L cranes and two three-axle GMK3060L-1 models.
Tusker has used Grove cranes in its rental fleet and on its own construction projects for many years, often purchasing used equipment. In 2025, the company changed its approach and chose new cranes for its latest fleet additions after evaluating several options.
Managing Director John Lennon said the investment was intended to improve utilisation, reduce downtime and lower running costs. He said the GMK6300L-1 adds a proven high-capacity crane, while the five- and three-axle models are well suited to the company’s rental fleet.
Three Grove models broaden lifting capacity
The largest crane in the order, the Grove GMK6300L-1, has a maximum capacity of 300 tonnes and an 80-metre main boom. With a 37-metre jib and boom extension, it can achieve a maximum reach of up to 120 metres.
The two GMK5120L cranes have a maximum capacity of 120 tonnes and a 66-metre main boom. Their 9.4- or 16-metre bi-fold swingaway jib extends the crane’s reach. The model also features Grove’s Crane Control System (CCS) and MAXbase variable outrigger positioning. Flexible counterweight options support its transport configuration.
The two GMK3060L-1 cranes have a maximum capacity of 60 tonnes and a 48-metre main boom. Their bi-fold swingaway jib can be configured at 8.7 or 15 metres. The model also includes CCS and MAXbase, combining a compact three-axle configuration with additional boom reach.
All five cranes are available for work across Ireland and the UK.
Irlequip supplies and supports the cranes
Irlequip supplied the new cranes and provides an extended warranty and support for Grove equipment in Tusker’s fleet. Its customer support includes a workshop, spare parts and a team of technicians. Manitowoc’s global customer support also backs the dealer’s service.
John Ledwith, Director of Irlequip, said the company supports Grove crane owners in Ireland with parts, service and technical assistance. He said customers who start with used Grove cranes sometimes go on to buy new models after experiencing the cranes and dealer support.
