Back to Where It Began: Eddy and Kimberly Kitchen Refocus on Kitchen’s Crane & Equipment

30 Second Takeaway

Eddy and Kimberly Kitchen have stepped away from Engineered Rigging Group to refocus fully on Kitchen’s Crane & Equipment, the Richmond, Virginia–based business they founded in 2007. The move marks a return to their roots, centring their work on heavy lift and transport equipment, practical project support, and the contractor-focused approach that has defined their careers in the lifting industry.

A Platform Built on Collaboration

Kimberly Kitchen founded Engineered Rigging Group in 2014 in Valparaiso, Indiana, with a clear idea in mind: create a virtual rigging services platform that could connect contractors with the right lifting, transport, and rigging partners without owning equipment itself.

ER quickly became known for its ability to coordinate suppliers, manage risk, and deliver solutions for complex lifting and transport projects across North America and internationally. Over the years, the group supported a wide range of industrial, infrastructure, and specialist lifting operations, often behind the scenes.

For Eddy and Kimberly, ER was never about scale for its own sake. It was about enabling others.

Back to the Business They Built Together

With their departure from ER, the Kitchens are now putting their full energy back into Kitchen’s Crane & Equipment.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, the company supplies new and used heavy lift and transport equipment for sale or rental, while also helping contractors source the right machines and plan complex lifts or transport scopes.

It is a business grounded in practical experience the kind that comes from understanding both the equipment and the people who operate it.

A People-First Perspective

Reflecting on the move, Eddy and Kimberly Kitchen said:

“Our greatest success story has always been empowering companies to excel in their daily operations and conquer those projects demanding complex lifting, specialised transport, or innovative equipment solutions. We are also dedicated to supporting the industry, remaining strong promoters of the SC&RA and the SC&R Foundation.”

That philosophy supporting others, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the industry as a whole  has been a consistent thread through both businesses.

What Comes Next

The shift marks less of an ending and more of a return.

For those who know Eddy and Kimberly Kitchen, this move feels like a natural evolution back to the company they built from the ground up, and closer to the equipment, contractors, and projects that first drew them into the crane and rigging world.

It is, quite literally, back to the Kitchen.
