Tadano AC 5.250L-2 Expands Patriot Crane & Rigging’s Midwest Fleet
30-Second Takeaway
Patriot Crane & Rigging has taken delivery of its first Tadano AC 5.250L-2, adding a 250 tonne All Terrain crane to its Omaha-based operation. The five axle crane features a 79 metre main boom, with extensions providing a maximum tip height of 112 metres. Supplied through RTL Equipment with a three axle trailing boom dolly, it will join Patriot’s taxi crane service across Nebraska and the wider Midwest. Owner Scott Shamburg said the investment will help the company serve larger, more challenging projects while maintaining mobility between job sites.

Tadano AC 5.250L-2
US lifting contractor Patriot Crane & Rigging has expanded its fleet with a 250 tonne Tadano AC 5.250L-2 All Terrain crane. The crane was supplied through Tadano distributor RTL Equipment and delivered with a three axle trailing boom dolly for road transport.
It will operate within Patriot’s taxi crane service, supporting contractors and businesses requiring mobile lifting equipment across Nebraska and neighbouring Midwest markets.
The purchase adds capacity and reach for projects beyond the requirements of smaller mobile cranes.
A 79-Metre Main Boom and 112-Metre Tip Height
Launched at Bauma 2025, the AC 5.250L-2 features an eight section, 79 metre telescopic main boom. Available lattice extensions range from 5.8 to 30 metres, taking the maximum tip height to 112 metres.
The long main boom gives Patriot additional reach for elevated installation work, while the extension options allow the crane to be configured for different lifting requirements.
Maximum rated capacity is 250 tonnes. Capacity at a particular height or radius depends on the selected configuration and applicable load chart.
IC-1 Plus and Surround View
The new crane incorporates Tadano’s IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates available lifting capacities for the crane’s configuration and operating position. The system supports the use of variable outrigger arrangements, helping operators configure the crane around available site space. Surround View provides camera-assisted visibility around the carrier, supporting manoeuvring and positioning. The crane also includes Eco mode and a start-stop function, designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions during operation.
Road Transport with a Trailing Boom Dolly
Patriot ordered the crane with a three axle trailing boom dolly, supporting its movement between projects. The dolly forms part of the transport arrangement, helping distribute the boom-related load across additional axles during road travel. For a taxi crane operation, the ability to move equipment between job sites is an important part of scheduling and deployment. Shamburg identified roadability alongside lifting performance as a key reason for the investment.
Owner Scott “Sham” Shamburg said:
“This crane gives us the lifting capacity, reach, and versatility needed for several larger and more challenging projects in our region. Combined with its easy roadability between job sites, this was a clear investment in better serving our clients and keeping project timelines on track.”
Supplied Through RTL Equipment
RTL Equipment supplied the crane as Tadano’s distributor serving Patriot’s market.
The handover brought together representatives from Patriot, RTL Equipment and Tadano.
Ben Steege of RTL Equipment said:
“Scott and Patriot have built a sterling reputation on quality and service, and the Tadano machines fit that perfectly.”
The delivery introduces the AC 5.250L-2 to Patriot’s fleet as the company expands its ability to undertake heavier and higher-reaching work.
