30-Second Takeaway

Polish cargo handling operator Bulk Cargo has taken delivery of a 90 tonne Terex TRT90 Rough Terrain crane for operations at the Port of Szczecin in northwestern Poland. Supplied through distributor EWPA, the crane will support general cargo handling, particularly steel and steel sheets. The TRT90 features a 47 metre main boom, an integrated camera system and TEOS controls with a 10 inch touchscreen. It adds mobile lifting capability to a multipurpose terminal handling approximately 4.5 million tonnes of cargo annually.

Terex TRT90

Bulk Cargo has deployed its first Terex TRT90 at the Port of Szczecin in northwestern Poland, adding a mobile crane for steel handling and maintenance work. Polish distributor EWPA supplied the machine through its equipment sales operation, which includes a local branch in Szczecin.

The crane’s assignment extends beyond a fixed lifting position. It will move between terminal working areas, handling steel products and supporting lifts associated with port equipment and infrastructure.

TRT90 Specifications

The TRT90 has a maximum rated lifting capacity of 90 tonnes and a five section, 47 metre telescopic main boom. Maximum tip height on the main boom is 49.5 metres.

A nine to 17 metre bi-fold swingaway extension increases maximum tip height to approximately 66 metres, with offsets of up to 32 degrees. Overall dimensions are 2.99 metres wide, just over 14 metres long and 3.99 metres high.

These boom configurations provide different reach options for cargo handling and maintenance assignments. Actual lifting capacity depends on the radius, boom configuration and applicable load chart.

Mobility Between Terminal Work Areas

Bulk Cargo selected the TRT90 for lifting capacity, mobility and pick & carry capability. Multiple wheel-steering modes, including crab steering, assist positioning, while the Rough Terrain carrier supports movement across uneven surfaces.

The pick & carry function allows the crane to lift and transport loads within its rated operating limits. For this terminal assignment, that capability complements stationary lifting work and allows the machine to serve different handling locations.

Visibility and Controls for Port Work

The crane’s integrated camera system includes views of the winch, the right-hand side of the superstructure and the area behind the carrier. These give the operator additional viewpoints when monitoring the machine and positioning it around terminal activity.

TEOS controls provide a 10 inch touchscreen interface for crane information, settings and diagnostic functions. The delivered machine also includes additional cab heating, engine block heating, hydraulic oil tank heating and fuel filter heating, together with automatic centralised lubrication for the carrier and superstructure.

Supporting Steel and General Cargo Handling

Bulk Cargo operates eight quays extending approximately 2,800 metres, with annual cargo throughput of around 4.5 million tonnes. Its business encompasses dry bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo, requiring equipment suited to a variety of handling tasks.

Steel and steel sheets will be core assignments for the new crane. The operator also handles commodities such as coal, coke, ore, scrap, grain and fertiliser, alongside forest products and bagged cargo.

EWPA on the Delivery

EWPA crane sales manager Przemysław Grzeszczyk said:

“EWPA is pleased to supply the TRT90 to Bulk Cargo, a leading Central European multipurpose cargo-handling operator. The model, with its substantial lift capacity, presents good mobility and versatility, all required to support our client’s diverse year round operations across the terminal.”

EWPA provides equipment sales, rental, servicing and spare parts through its Polish network. Its Szczecin branch gives the port operator a local connection to the supplying distributor.
