30-Second Takeaway
Cadman Cranes has added a Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 to its fleet, increasing lifting capacity to 230 tonnes and extending reach with a 75-metre telescopic boom. Now the largest crane in Cadman’s lineup, the 5-axle all-terrain crane is powered by sustainable HVO fuel and advanced eco-efficiency technology. The crane will be available for customer projects starting December 2, supporting high-reach, high-capacity lifts across East Anglia and beyond.

Largest Crane in Cadman’s Fleet
Cadman Cranes has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1, marking a significant expansion of its heavy-lift capabilities. The 230-tonne all-terrain crane is now the largest crane in the company’s fleet, giving Cadman customers access to greater reach, higher hook heights, and increased lifting performance for complex projects.
In addition to its lifting power, the LTM 1230-5.1 aligns with Cadman’s sustainability goals. The crane operates on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions while maintaining full performance. Combined with Liebherr’s fuel-saving technologies, the crane minimizes fuel consumption without compromising productivity.
The new crane will be available for hire beginning December 2.

VarioBase® and Asymmetrical Support Technology
The LTM 1230-5.1 places Liebherr’s multi-award-winning VarioBase® support system at the core of its structural design. This crane is the first Liebherr mobile crane to feature an asymmetrical support base, allowing each outrigger to be set independently based on site constraints.
Using real-time calculations from Liebherr’s LICCON control system, the crane automatically determines maximum lifting capacities for each individual support configuration. This results in:
Significantly higher lifting capacities
Enhanced safety on restricted sites
Optimized performance, particularly in the rear working area over the supports
VarioBase® Plus combines VarioBase with the asymmetrical support design, offering unprecedented flexibility for lifts in confined or irregular jobsite conditions.
Built for Height, Reach, and Heavy Lifting
The LTM 1230-5.1 is equipped with an exceptionally long 75-metre telescopic boom, setting new standards for five-axle mobile cranes. With lattice boom extensions installed, the crane achieves a maximum hook height approximately 10% higher than its predecessor.
This configuration makes the crane particularly well suited for:
Tower crane erection and dismantling
Wind turbine maintenance
High-reach industrial installations
Projects requiring large hook heights with the boom fully raised
Despite its size and capacity, the crane maintains the mobility advantages of a five-axle platform, making it efficient to transport and quick to set up on site.

Sustainability as a Core Strategy
Cadman Cranes has positioned sustainability as a central pillar of its fleet strategy. By operating the LTM 1230-5.1 on HVO fuel and leveraging Liebherr’s advanced efficiency technologies, the company continues to reduce emissions while meeting customer demands for high-performance lifting solutions.
Cadman recognizes climate change as one of the most significant challenges facing the industry and has committed to:
Reducing overall resource consumption
Minimizing environmental and biodiversity impact
Achieving net-zero emissions in the shortest feasible timeframe
The addition of the LTM 1230-5.1 reinforces Cadman’s leadership role in sustainable crane operations.
