Power on Five Axles: Auto-Klug Invests Again in Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1

30Second Takeaway

Auto-Klug has strengthened its heavy-lift capability with the addition of a new Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1, replacing an older 220-tonne crane from another manufacturer. The 250-tonne, five-axle mobile crane was selected for its flexibility, efficiency, and compatibility with existing equipment, reinforcing Auto-Klug’s long-standing partnership with Liebherr.

Fleet Modernisation Across Multiple Regions

Alfred Klug GmbH & Co. KG, based in Hof, Upper Franconia, continues to focus on fleet modernisation with the purchase of another Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1. The new crane will operate across Auto-Klug’s sites in Bavaria, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia, supporting a wide range of lifting applications.

The investment replaces an older 220-tonne crane from a different manufacturer, reflecting the company’s strategic move toward greater standardisation and operational efficiency.

Proven Performance Drives Repeat Investment

Auto-Klug has operated a Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 since 2019, and the positive experience with the first unit played a decisive role in the repeat purchase.

“We have been using a Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 crane since 2019 and are extremely satisfied with it. The new order of identical equipment makes the work of our drivers easier and ensures smooth processes for approvals, transport and assembly and disassembly,” explained Christina Glück, General Manager of Alfred Klug GmbH & Co. KG.

Efficiency Through Compatibility and Synergies

According to Sebastian Häger, General Manager at Auto-Klug, the decision to invest again in the LTM 1250-5.1 was made very deliberately.

“It is not only the most powerful five-axle crane on the market but can also be used very flexibly. Another benefit is that the comprehensive range of accessories for our existing crane is fully compatible with the new machine. That creates synergies, saves time and costs and increases efficiency in daily use.”

The ability to share accessories between cranes reduces logistics complexity while improving deployment speed across projects.

Expanding Heavy-Lift Capability

With the latest addition, Auto-Klug’s fleet now comprises 45 mobile and loading cranes, including:

  • Two Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1

  • One Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3

  • Three Liebherr MK 88 mobile construction cranes

The new LTM 1250-5.1 will primarily be used for bridge construction, transformer station erection, and handling large concrete elements across Germany.

A Long-Standing Partnership with Liebherr

The investment further strengthens Auto-Klug’s long-standing relationship with Liebherr,

built on reliability and service support.

“We rely on Liebherr because we have had very good experiences with their service and support by their customer and field service for many years,” said Glück. “The investment is another step towards offering our customers reliable and efficient solutions.”
