30 Second Takeaway
The new Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 builds on the legendary LG 1750, delivering up to 800 tonnes of lifting capacity while combining the mobility of a wheeled chassis with the power of a lattice boom crane. Designed with global transport flexibility and optimised specifically for wind energy applications, the LG 1800-1.0 sets a new benchmark for high-capacity, roadable lattice boom cranes. With advanced Liebherr technologies, shared components with the LR 1800-1.0, and exceptional performance at extreme hub heights, the legend truly grows.

The Legend Grows: LG 1750 Gets a Successor
The legendary Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom crane now has a successor. Like its predecessor, the new Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 combines the advantages of a mobile crane with the load capacity of a lattice boom crane.
Previously one of the most powerful wheeled lattice boom cranes on the market, the LG 1750 set the standard for mobility and performance. The new LG 1800-1.0 goes even further and will be launched in the first half of 2024 under Liebherr’s motto: “The legend grows.”
800-Tonne Lifting Capacity on Wheels
With the development of the LG 1800-1.0, Liebherr has once again pushed the boundaries of mobile heavy lifting.
As one of the world’s most powerful lattice boom cranes on wheels, the new crane offers a
maximum lifting capacity of 800 tonnes, exceeding its predecessor and matching the performance of its crawler counterpart, the Liebherr LR 1800-1.0.
The crane incorporates advanced Liebherr technologies, including:
V-Frame®
VarioTray
ZF TraXon Torque transmission with ECOdrive
Wind Speed load charts
These systems enhance efficiency, safety, and performance across a wide range of applications.
Flexible Driving Modes for Global Markets
A key highlight of the 9-axle LG 1800-1.0 is its unique chassis design, engineered to meet transport requirements in markets worldwide.
Depending on configuration, the crane can travel:
With all four supports, at a 10-tonne axle load and 90 tonnes total weight
With two supports, at 70 tonnes
Without supports, at approximately 50 tonnes
This flexibility ensures the LG 1800-1.0 can be transported efficiently under varying regulatory conditions.
Unlike the 8-axle LG 1750, the folding beams on the new crane are non-telescopic. A 13 x 13 metre support base provides exceptional stability, enabling high load capacities with the derrick system and excellent erectable lengths without it.
Fixed supports offer several advantages:
Increased stability
Reduced weight
Faster handling via a quick coupling system
Liebherr also utilises standard axles from the LTM mobile crane portfolio, simplifying logistics and service.
Purpose-Built for the Wind Industry
With a chassis width of just 3.0 metres, the LG 1800-1.0 can be transported economically on public roads and manoeuvred efficiently on site. The crane is capable of handling gradients of up to 25 percent, a critical advantage when working in wind farms.
As the mobile counterpart to the LR 1800-1.0, the LG 1800-1.0 shares the same boom systems, including:
Main boom up to 180 metres
Main boom + luffing jib: up to 108 m + 102 m
Maximum hook height of 208 metres
Optimised wind power boom configurations allow operation at hub heights of up to 180 metres, such as a 174-metre boom with an 18-metre lattice-type fixed jib.
The Wind Speed Load Charts, permitting operation in wind speeds of up to 13.4 m/s, further increase safety and flexibility under challenging conditions.
Shared Components with the LR 1800-1.0
Another major advantage of the LG 1800-1.0 is its equipment compatibility with the LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane.
Shared components include:
Head sections
Lattice-type fixed jibs
Whip lines
Boom system designations
10-tonne counterweight plates
This compatibility helps reduce equipment costs, transport effort, and logistical complexity.
The key distinction lies in a modified slewing platform, which allows the LG 1800-1.0 to erect longer boom systems without a derrick, further enhancing flexibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 different from the LG 1750?
The LG 1800-1.0 increases maximum lifting capacity to 800 tonnes, adds a ninth axle for improved load distribution, and features fixed folding supports for greater stability and reduced weight. It also integrates the latest Liebherr technologies such as V-Frame®, VarioTray, and Wind Speed Load Charts.
How does the LG 1800-1.0 compare to the LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane?
The LG 1800-1.0 matches the lifting performance of the LR 1800-1.0 but offers significantly higher mobility thanks to its wheeled chassis. It can travel on public roads with minimal disassembly, reducing transport time and cost compared to crawler cranes.
Why is the LG 1800-1.0 ideal for wind energy projects?
With a narrow 3.0-meter chassis, strong gradeability up to 25%, and boom systems capable of reaching hub heights up to 180 meters, the LG 1800-1.0 is perfectly suited for modern wind turbine installation. Wind Speed Load Charts allow operation in wind speeds up to 13.4 m/s, improving uptime in variable conditions.
What boom configurations are available?
The crane supports a main boom up to 180 meters, or a main boom and luffing jib combination of up to 108 meters plus 102 meters, achieving a maximum hook height of 208 meters. Optimized wind configurations further enhance flexibility.
Is equipment interchangeable with other Liebherr cranes?
Yes. The LG 1800-1.0 shares boom systems, head sections, jibs, and counterweight plates with the LR 1800-1.0 and other Liebherr crawler cranes, reducing fleet complexity and transport costs.
When will the Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 be available?
The LG 1800-1.0 is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2024.
