E. Helaakoski takes delivery of Finland’s first Liebherr LTM 1150-5.4
30-Second Takeaway
Finnish crane and access company E. Helaakoski has taken delivery of a 150-tonne Liebherr LTM 1150-5.4 All Terrain crane. It is the first crane of this model in Finland and the country’s second crane equipped with Liebherr’s LICCON3 control system. The five-axle crane has a 66-metre, seven-section telescopic boom and can be configured with extensions to reach a tip height of almost 95 metres. It can travel with nine tonnes of counterweight while meeting 12-tonne axle loads and a 60-tonne gross vehicle weight.

Finland’s first LTM 1150-5.4 joins the fleet
E. Helaakoski has added Finland’s first Liebherr LTM 1150-5.4 to its lifting fleet. The delivery also makes it only the second crane in Finland to feature Liebherr’s LICCON3 control system.
The five-axle All Terrain crane has a maximum rated lifting capacity of 150 tonnes at a three-metre radius. Its 66-metre telescopic boom gives the machine substantial reach from its base configuration, while the available extensions expand its working height and radius for lifts that require additional boom length.
Boom extensions take tip height close to 95 metres
The crane’s seven-section main boom extends to 66 metres. For additional reach, it can be equipped with a bi-fold swingaway extension, which offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven-metre insert can also be added to the boom combination, taking the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and the maximum radius to 72 metres.
The LTM 1150-5.4 has a total ballast capacity of 45 tonnes. Its road-going configuration allows it to carry nine tonnes of counterweight while travelling at a 60-tonne gross vehicle weight and within 12-tonne axle loads. The crane is powered by a 400 kW, six-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine and has a listed maximum road speed of 85 km/h.
LICCON3 and variable outrigger setup
The LTM 1150-5.4 is the latest generation of Liebherr’s 150-tonne crane, developed from the LTM 1150-5.3. Its LICCON3 control system adds a faster data bus, increased storage and computing power, and preparation for telematics and fleet management.
The crane also features VarioBase, which allows each outrigger to be extended to a different length. This gives operators more flexibility when setting up where space is restricted, while lifting capacities depend on the outrigger configuration. AutoBallast automates the ballasting process. E. Helaakoski’s crane is also equipped with the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS).
“The new 150 tonne crane strengthens our lifting capacity and supports our commitment to providing safe, reliable and efficient lifting solutions for our customers.”
