Super Terminais Orders Three Additional Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 Cranes for Port of Manaus

30 Second Takeaway

Super Terminais, operator of the Port of Manaus, has placed a repeat order for three Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 pedestal-mounted cranes. Building on the proven performance of the first units delivered in 2021, the new cranes will support higher cargo volumes, larger vessels and sustainability goals as trade through Brazil’s Amazon region continues to grow.

Expanding Capacity at the Port of Manaus

Port of Manaus operator Super Terminais Comercio e Industria Ltda (Super Terminais) has strengthened its long-term development strategy with a repeat order for three Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 pedestal-mounted cranes.

The order was booked in Q2 2025, with delivery scheduled for Q3 2026. The investment reflects increasing cargo volumes and the arrival of larger vessels serving northern Brazil and the wider Amazon basin.

Proven Performance Drives Repeat Order

Building on Four Years of Operational Experience

Super Terminais first acquired three ESP.10 cranes in 2021, marking the first ever production units of the model. After four years of continuous operation, the cranes have demonstrated strong reliability, performance and suitability for the challenging environmental conditions of the Amazon region.

With a 64-metre reach and high lifting capacity, the ESP.10 cranes are capable of handling large container vessels, including super-post-Panamax ships. This capability is increasingly critical as shipping lines deploy larger vessels to serve the growing Manaus Free Trade Zone economy.

Supporting Sustainability Goals

Electrification and Emissions Reduction

In addition to productivity gains, the ESP.10 cranes support Super Terminais’ sustainability objectives. The cranes can be connected to an onshore power supply, significantly reducing local emissions and fuel consumption during operation.

This aligns with broader efforts to balance economic growth in the Amazon region with environmental responsibility.

Industry Perspective

Responding to Regional Growth

Marcello Di Gregorio, Director of Super Terminais, highlighted the importance of the investment:

“The Amazon region is now receiving megaships with heavy loads, and the Manaus Free Trade Zone economy is growing rapidly. These powerful, reliable, and eco-efficient cranes double our handling capacity while controlling emissions and meeting customer demands.”

Alfredo Cañibano Ramos, Regional Sales Manager at Konecranes, added:

“Repeat business is the strongest sign of trust. These cranes are built to excel in challenging Amazon conditions, supporting Super Terminais’ demanding operational needs.”

Strategic Gateway to the Amazon Basin

Long-Term Investment in Regional Trade

Serving as a key maritime gateway to the upper Amazon basin, the Port of Manaus plays a critical role in northern Brazil’s trade and industrial supply chains.

With more than 25 years of local operation, Super Terminais continues to invest in infrastructure and equipment that support long-term growth, operational resilience and sustainable development in the region.
