30-Second Takeaway
Würzburger Kranverleih und Bergungsdienst GmbH has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3, replacing an eleven-year-old LTM 1090-4.1. The 100-tonne, 5-axle mobile crane delivers improved mobility, higher ballast carry capacity, LICCON3 control, and the TraXon DynamicPerform drivetrain making it an ideal taxi crane for flexible daily operations across Lower Franconia.

Würzburger Kranverleih und Bergungsdienst GmbH has strengthened its mobile crane fleet with the addition of a Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3, taking delivery of the crane at Liebherr’s Ehingen plant. The new 100-tonne mobile crane replaces an eleven-year-old LTM 1090-4.1, marking a major step forward in performance, efficiency, and operator comfort for the family-run company.
Modern Technology Drives the Upgrade
Company owner Ibrahim Haido already had hands-on experience with Liebherr’s latest crane generation and the LICCON3 control system, making the decision straightforward.
“The cranes are getting ever better and more modern,” Haido explained. “Our crane operators are happy with the control, the crane superstructure, and also with how they handle on the road. They’re really agile and we also like the new design.”
The LTM 1100-5.3 combines a 62-metre telescopic boom, modern crane architecture, and advanced drivetrain technology, giving Würzburger Kranverleih significantly more operational flexibility than its predecessor.
“The Master of All Roads”
Introduced by Liebherr at Bauma 2022, the LTM 1100-5.3 was engineered to deliver maximum mobility and cost efficiency across a wide range of markets.
One of its standout advantages is its ability to carry up to 16.9 tonnes of ballast on public roads with a 12-tonne axle load, while still being capable of traveling globally with axle loads reduced to 9 tonnes. This flexibility is why Liebherr refers to the crane as “The master
of all roads.”
For Würzburger Kranverleih, this capability translates directly into real-world efficiency.
“Because the crane can carry such a large amount of ballast on public roads, we can use it very flexibly as a taxi crane,” Haido said.
“Without any additional ballast transport, it can handle most everyday jobs from steel hall construction to placing prefabricated concrete elements.”
TraXon DynamicPerform: Lower Wear, Higher Efficiency
The LTM 1100-5.3 is equipped with the TraXon DynamicPerform ZF gear unit, featuring an oil-cooled multi-disc clutch system designed for virtually wear-free starting and maneuvering.
Unlike conventional dry clutches, the DynamicPerform system dissipates friction heat through clutch oil and transfers it via an oil/water heat exchanger to the vehicle’s cooling system.
The result is:
Reduced drivetrain wear
Improved efficiency during frequent starts
Lower long-term maintenance costs
For operators running taxi crane work with frequent relocations, this technology delivers measurable operational advantages.
Long-Term Confidence in Liebherr
Würzburger Kranverleih operates 12 mobile cranes, the majority of them from Liebherr, including a mobile construction crane. According to Haido, service reliability remains one of the strongest deciding factors.
“When it comes to service and spare parts availability, nobody can match Liebherr. Help always comes quickly,” he said.
The company was also an early adopter of Liebherr MK mobile construction cranes, which have become a core part of its offering.
“There are several advantages, and there’s a strong client base. MK cranes are an essential part of any modern mobile crane fleet.”
