30-Second Takeaway
Markewitsch continues investing in compact lifting solutions with the addition of a new Tadano AC 3.045-1 City crane. The crane’s compact design, Flex Base outrigger system, telescoping under load capability, and E-Pack Ready option make it ideally suited for industrial installation work and tight-access lifting environments.

Markewitsch Adds Another Tadano City Crane to Growing Fleet
German crane rental and heavy transport company Markewitsch has taken delivery of a new 45 tonne Tadano AC 3.045-1 City All Terrain crane, further strengthening a compact crane fleet strategy the company first began more than two decades ago.
The investment continues Markewitsch’s long-standing focus on City-type cranes, which dates back to 2002 when the company added a 60 tonne Demag AC 60 City to its fleet. Today, the fleet includes multiple two and three axle compact All Terrain cranes up to 50 tonnes, primarily from Demag and Tadano.
Compact Crane Designed for Tight Access Applications
The new Tadano AC 3.045-1 features a five section 31.2 metre main boom combined with a 7.1 to 13 metre swingaway extension offering up to 30 degrees of offset. This configuration provides a maximum tip height of just over 45 metres.
The crane can also be equipped with a three sheave 1.2 metre runner extension, particularly useful for indoor lifting operations and machinery installation projects where compact lifting solutions are critical.
Flex Base System Improves Jobsite Flexibility
One of the key features of the new crane is Tadano’s Flex Base variable outrigger system.
The technology allows the crane control system to monitor actual outrigger beam extension and slewing position in real time, automatically calculating the optimum load chart for the crane’s configuration.
This capability is especially valuable when operating in restricted jobsite environments where symmetrical outrigger deployment may not be possible.
Focus on Industrial and Machinery Installation Work
The new crane will be based at Markewitsch’s Schweinfurt depot, located northwest of the company’s headquarters in Nuremberg. According to the company, the crane will primarily support industrial and machinery installation projects, which account for approximately half of the company’s annual business activities. To support indoor and low-emission operations, Markewitsch ordered the crane with Tadano’s ‘E-Pack Ready’ option.
Tadano E-Pack
The E-Pack system enables the crane to operate in emission-free environments or locations with strict noise regulations. The feature also allows the crane to work indoors without requiring building doors to remain open — an important advantage during colder winter months and in controlled industrial facilities.
Markewitsch Highlights Benefits of City Crane Design
Managing director André Markewitsch emphasized the operational flexibility compact City cranes provide across both indoor and outdoor lifting applications.
“The City cranes give us great flexibility when working indoors, but also outside, especially when it comes to navigating tight entrances, manoeuvring into corners, or when a compact slewing radius is crucial - in short: wherever space is limited, the City is simply unbeatable.”
He also highlighted several additional advantages of the new Tadano unit.
“The crane can also telescope under load, while the asymmetrical outriggers set up option with Flex Base is invaluable in many of the confined spaces we face. And the fact that it can lift to 25 tonnes on the runner is also impressive for a crane of this size.”
Markewitsch Continues Expanding Regional Presence
Founded in Nuremberg in 1946, Markewitsch has grown into one of Germany’s established regional crane and heavy transport providers.
The company now operates from eight locations including:
Schweinfurt
Würzburg
Bamberg
Coburg
Erlangen
Röttenbach
Pfedelbach
In addition to crane rental and heavy haul transportation, the company also provides:
Turnkey industrial machinery relocation
Installation services
Assembly contracts
Industrial logistics support
The current fleet includes more than 60 cranes ranging from:
Loader cranes
Two axle City cranes
Self-erecting mobile tower cranes
All Terrain cranes up to 500 tonnes
The company currently employs approximately 350 people across its operations.
