Sin Heng Expands Fleet with Grove GMK4100L-2 All-Terrain Crane in Singapore

Updated: Jan 2

30 Second Takeaway

Singapore-based rental provider Sin Heng Heavy Machinery has strengthened its mobile crane fleet with the delivery of a Grove GMK4100L-2 all-terrain crane. The compact 100-tonne crane delivers strong lifting performance and extended reach, supporting road and building construction projects in space-constrained urban environments.

Compact All-Terrain Crane Reinforces Grove-Dominated Fleet

Sin Heng Heavy Machinery has taken delivery of a Grove GMK4100L-2 all-terrain crane, further reinforcing and expanding the capabilities of its predominantly Grove mobile crane fleet.

With a minimum width of 2.55 metres and a chassis length of 11.18 metres, the GMK4100L-2 combines compact design with a 100-tonne lifting capacity and a maximum tip height of 89 metres, making it well suited to Singapore’s dense and highly regulated construction environment.

Designed for Urban Construction and Restricted Access Sites

The compact footprint of the GMK4100L-2 allows the crane to operate efficiently in confined job sites while still delivering strong lifting performance. Its configuration supports lifting operations without excessive disruption to surrounding activities, an important consideration for urban road and building construction projects.

The crane will be deployed across Sin Heng’s customer base, which largely consists of road construction and building contractors, supporting a wide range of lifting requirements throughout Singapore.

Proven Performance Drives Fleet Decision

The decision to add the GMK4100L-2 followed years of successful operation with its predecessor, the Grove GMK4100L, which demonstrated strong reliability and performance within Sin Heng’s fleet.

Commenting on the acquisition, C.S. Tan, Operations Director at Sin Heng, said:

“We had good experiences with our Grove GMK4100L so the improved load charts of the Grove GMK4100L-2 made it the obvious choice for expanding our fleet. We often work on jobsites where there are space constraints, so its small footprint speeds up access and setup in what could otherwise be very tricky conditions. And with its main boom giving a reach of 60 m, that’s an added advantage when we’re supporting the construction of tall buildings.”

Long Reach and Improved Load Charts

In addition to its compact dimensions, the GMK4100L-2 offers a main boom reach of 60 metres, supporting high-reach lifts typically required for multi-storey construction projects.

The crane’s improved load charts over the previous model enhance lifting capability while maintaining the manoeuvrability and setup efficiency required for constrained job sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Grove GMK4100L-2 well suited to Singapore’s construction market?

Singapore’s urban environment demands cranes with compact dimensions and strong lifting performance. The GMK4100L-2’s 2.55 m width, short chassis, and strong load charts allow efficient operation on restricted job sites while maintaining high lift capability.

How does the GMK4100L-2 improve on the previous GMK4100L?

The GMK4100L-2 builds on the proven platform of the GMK4100L with improved load charts while retaining the compact footprint and manoeuvrability valued by rental operators working in tight spaces.

What types of projects will Sin Heng deploy the GMK4100L-2 on?

The crane will primarily support road construction and building projects, including lifts associated with tall structures and infrastructure works across Singapore.

Why is boom reach important for urban construction projects?

Extended boom reach reduces the need for repositioning and additional crane setups, improving efficiency and safety when working around existing structures and limited access areas.

Why do rental companies continue to invest in Grove all-terrain cranes?

Rental fleets value Grove cranes for their reliability, compact design, strong lifting performance, and long-term manufacturer support, enabling high utilisation across diverse project types.
