Spain’s first LTM 1400-6.1 enters service

Spanish crane and access rental company Grúas Aguilar has taken delivery of the first 400-tonne Liebherr LTM 1400-6.1 All Terrain crane in Spain, marking a significant milestone for the national lifting market.

Launched in mid-2024, the six-axle LTM 1400-6.1 replaces the 350-tonne LTM 1350-6.1 and delivers enhanced performance across a broad range of lifting applications.

Lifting performance and boom configurations

The LTM 1400-6.1 is equipped with a six-section 70-metre main boom, combined with Liebherr’s Y-Guy Superlift system, significantly increasing lifting capacities at longer radii.

Available boom and jib options include:

  • 45.5-metre luffing jib, providing hook heights of approximately 120 metres

  • 80.5-metre luffing jib, enabling hook heights of up to 140 metres

These configurations make the crane well suited to infrastructure works, industrial construction, plant maintenance and wind energy projects.

Transport efficiency and site flexibility

The single-engine crane is equipped with VarioBase® and VarioBallast®, with an adjustable counterweight radius ranging from 5.6 to 7.7 metres. It carries a 100-tonne basic counterweight, with the option of up to 40 tonnes of additional ballast.

For road travel, the crane has an overall length of 17.8 metres and can:

  • Travel with 12-tonne axle loads with boom and hook block onboard

  • Carry 10 tonnes of ballast and the Y-Guy system where 16.5-tonne axle loads are permitted

Deployment across Spain

Grúas Aguilar will deploy the new crane from its headquarters approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Madrid, supporting projects nationwide across multiple sectors.

Owner Luís Aguilar said:

“As pioneers in acquiring this model, it underlines our commitment to continuous improvement, sustainable investment and innovation. This new crane extends the versatility of our fleet and enables us to continue providing tailored solutions to our customers.”
