30-Second Takeaway
Northern German crane rental company Bäsmann has modernized its mid-range fleet with the addition of a Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1. The 60-tonne, three-axle mobile crane will be used primarily for work on biogas plants, as well as steel construction, concrete work, and agricultural projects. Compact dimensions, high ballast transport capability, and innovative Liebherr technologies were key decision factors.

Bäsmann Invests in New Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1
After more than 30 years, crane rental company Bäsmann has once again chosen a Liebherr mobile crane. The latest addition to the North German company’s fleet is the LTM 1060-3.1, which replaces an older 60-tonne model and strengthens the fleet’s mid-range segment.
“We took a close look at the market and spoke with other customers during the Liebherr Customer Days,”
explains Florian Bäsmann, Managing Director.
“The combination of versatile performance and Liebherr’s broad product range ultimately convinced us. The LTM 1060-3.1 fits perfectly into our fleet structure and technical requirements.”
Designed for Ballast Transport and Cost-Efficient Operation
The Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 is engineered for on-road travel with high ballast loads, thanks to an intelligent counterweight plate configuration that allows for fast and flexible transport setups. This reduces the need for additional ballast transport vehicles and improves overall job efficiency.
With its compact dimensions, ECOmode, and ECOdrive, the three-axle crane is also economical to operate, offering reduced fuel consumption and lower noise emissions. At the same time, the crane delivers impressive lifting capacities and a long telescopic boom, making it highly capable despite its compact footprint.
First Jobs Already Completed
One of the first assignments for Bäsmann’s new LTM 1060-3.1 took place in Zeven, Lower Saxony, where the crane lifted a 0.7-tonne ventilation unit from a rooftop at a 31-metre radius. The job highlighted the crane’s precision, reach, and stability—qualities essential for urban and industrial lifting tasks.
Optimized for Biogas Plant Operations
A major application focus for the new crane will be biogas plants, where restricted space
and demanding lift geometries are common.
“Alongside VarioBase® and the wireless remote control, the long telescopic boom was a decisive factor,”
says Bäsmann.
“These features allow us to work safely and efficiently on biogas facilities.”
Additional application areas include:
Steel construction
Concrete construction
Agricultural lifting operations
For indoor work, such as installing crane runways, Bäsmann has also ordered a special folding jib, enabling greater flexibility when working close to edges or within confined structures.
Operators Praise Technology and Comfort
During the two-day product briefing at Liebherr’s Ehingen plant, crane operators expressed strong confidence in the new machine.
“The new 60-tonne crane is a premium product that impresses with its technical performance and innovative features from the support system to the BTT wireless remote control,”
says crane driver Andreas Lenz.
His colleague René Rubarth adds:
“Before the first job, we’ll take a closer look at all the technical functions in detail.”
