Updated: Jan 20

30 Second Takeaway

Schmidbauer has expanded its fleet with the delivery of a Tadano GTC-2000, officially handed over at bauma. The crane has already entered service on a wind farm project in Boppard, highlighting Schmidbauer’s continued confidence in Tadano crawler crane technology and aftersales support.

bauma Handover Marks Key Fleet Investment

There could not have been a more appropriate venue for the handover. At the latest bauma, crane service provider Schmidbauer officially took delivery of its new Tadano GTC-2000 telescopic crawler crane.

The crane was handed over by Tadano Sales Manager Hans Asam to Schmidbauer CEO Stefan Schmidbauer, who expressed strong enthusiasm for the latest addition to the fleet.

“The concept behind the GTC-2000 really won us over. It’s remarkably powerful, extraordinarily reliable, and extremely easy to operate. Needless to say, that’s something our team really values – in every single Tadano crane.”

Tadano Remains Core to Schmidbauer Fleet Strategy

Schmidbauer’s confidence in Tadano equipment is reflected across its wider fleet. The company currently operates around 75 Tadano cranes, supplied from Lauf and Zweibrücken, which are deployed across a broad range of lifting applications.

The latest Tadano GTC-2000 strengthens Schmidbauer’s capability in crawler crane operations, particularly for wind energy, infrastructure, and heavy assembly projects where mobility and lifting precision are critical.

Service Support Plays a Key Role in Investment Decision

Beyond the machine itself, after-sales support was a decisive factor in Schmidbauer’s continued partnership with Tadano.

“We know that we can count on Tadano Service 100% at any time. Their team always finds a fast and effective solution regardless of what the issue is, and that obviously played a part in our decision to get another Tadano,” Stefan Schmidbauer explained.

Rapid Deployment to Wind Farm Project

Immediately following its appearance at bauma as a demo crane, the GTC-2000 was transported directly to Schmidbauer’s premises in Gräfelfing, where crane operators received intensive training and briefing on the new machine.

The crane was then mobilised to its first job at the Boppard wind farm, where it is now carrying out initial assignments as an assist crane and setup crane, supporting wind turbine installation activities.
