Xtreme Manufacturing has introduced the Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane at Conexpo, expanding into the compact crawler crane market. With a 3.2 tonne capacity, 16.33 metre tip height, and ultra-compact 762mm width, the XMC3530 spider crane positions Xtreme as a new competitor to established models such as the Jekko SPX532.

Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane makes debut at Conexpo
At Conexpo, Xtreme Manufacturing surprised many attendees with the unveiling of its first spider crane, the Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane.
The launch marks a notable move for the North American telehandler manufacturer, entering a specialist lifting segment traditionally dominated by manufacturers from Japan, Italy, and more recently China.
Specifications and lifting performance
The Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane has a maximum capacity of 3.2 tonnes and features a five-section 10.3 metre main boom, combined with a 4.42 metre hydraulic luffing jib.
The jib stows within the crane’s superstructure when not in use, allowing for compact transport and operation.
The XMC3530 spider crane offers a maximum tip height of 16.33 metres, where it can handle 490kg, and can also lift the same load at a six metre radius at 12 metres height. Maximum capacity on the jib is just under one tonne, while the fully extended main boom can handle 1,450kg.
Compact design for restricted access work
A key feature of the Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane is its compact design. With an overall stowed width of just 762mm, it can pass through a standard single doorway, making it suitable for restricted access lifting applications.
However, with an overall height of just over two metres, clearance may be a consideration in some indoor environments.
The crane is also equipped with a remote control system, including a dedicated onboard storage compartment.
Xtreme XMC3530 compared to Jekko SPX532
The Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane has drawn comparisons with the Jekko SPX532, particularly in terms of overall design, boom configuration, and jib stowage system.
While similarities have been noted, Xtreme has used its distinctive colour scheme across its equipment range since the company was established in 2003.
Preliminary ANSI specifications have been released for the XMC3530 spider crane, allowing side-by-side comparison with established spider crane models.
Background and market context
Xtreme Manufacturing is owned by Don Ahern, who also owns Snorkel and previously led Ahern Rentals prior to its sale to United Rentals in 2022.
Ahern Rentals was understood to be a regular customer of Jekko spider cranes, making Xtreme’s move into the segment particularly notable.
At Conexpo 2023, Don Ahern also purchased a Jekko MP20 from distributor Fascan for charity, highlighting a longstanding connection to the spider crane sector.
A new entrant in the spider crane market
The introduction of the Xtreme XMC3530 spider crane signals Xtreme’s entry into the growing compact crawler crane and spider crane market, where demand continues to increase for indoor lifting, restricted access projects, and specialist applications.
As one of the few spider cranes developed in North America, the XMC3530 spider crane adds a new competitive option in a segment long dominated by international manufacturers.
