Bernd Brielmann Invests in Tadano HK 4.070-1 for Space-Efficient Heavy Lifting

Updated: Jan 20

30-Second Takeaway

Bernd Brielmann, managing director of the Mössingen-based crane service provider bearing his name, has added a Tadano HK 4.070-1 truck-mounted crane to his fleet. The crane’s ability to travel on public roads without permits, carry full counterweight and jib, and operate efficiently in confined spaces made it a compelling choice for urban and residential lifting work.

TADANO HK 4.070-1

A Strong Case for the Tadano HK 4.070-1

Ask Bernd Brielmann about the Tadano HK 4.070-1 and he is quick to explain why he considers it an excellent investment. The managing director of the Mössingen-based crane service provider recently took delivery of the new truck-mounted crane, reinforcing the company’s capability for space-constrained lifting operations.

“For starters, the HK 4.070-1 is one of the biggest and most powerful truck-mounted cranes out there that can travel on public roads without the need for a permit right now,” Brielmann said.

Permit-Free Mobility with Full Equipment

Designed for Efficient Transport

One of the key advantages highlighted by Brielmann is the crane’s ability to travel permit-free on public roads while carrying its full counterweight and jib.

“Not only that, but it can also take its full counterweight and jib to the road,” he explained.

This capability reduces transport complexity and mobilisation costs, particularly for operators working across multiple sites or in urban environments where permits and logistics can quickly add time and expense.

H-Style Outriggers for Confined Job Sites

Lifting Power Where Space Is Limited

For Brielmann, the feature that ultimately sealed the deal was the crane’s H-style outrigger system.

“The thing that really sells it for me is its H-style outriggers, which save space and enable it to lift heavy loads even at work sites that don’t offer much room to maneuver,” he said.

This design makes the HK 4.070-1 particularly well suited to tight residential and urban job sites, where space limitations often restrict crane selection.

Handover and Operator Training

Delivered in Lauf

Bernd Brielmann collected the crane together with crane operator John Sautter in Lauf, where the HK 4.070-1 was formally handed over by Tadano Sales Manager Michael Zieger.

The handover included familiarisation with the crane’s systems and operating features, ensuring the team could put the new machine to work immediately.

Fuel Efficiency and Two-Engine Concept

Financial and Operational Advantages

Beyond lifting performance, Brielmann emphasised the crane’s financial and operational benefits.

“The reliable Scania chassis means that the HK 4.070-1 has the same fuel efficiency as a normal truck and that it experiences much less wear in comparison to an all-terrain crane,” he said.

He also praised the crane’s two-engine concept, which includes a smaller, fuel-efficient engine dedicated to the superstructure.

“We’ll be using the HK 4.070-1 primarily to assemble prefab homes and basements, as well as to set steel and concrete components in place that’s where the fuel-efficient engine on top comes in, as it’s way more cost-effective than many other options,” Brielmann added.

Versatility for Residential and Commercial Work

Built for Everyday Lifting

With its combination of permit-free mobility, compact outrigger footprint and efficient powertrain, the HK 4.070-1 offers exceptional versatility for prefabricated housing, basement installation, and structural steel and concrete placement.

For Brielmann, this versatility makes the crane a valuable all-round addition to the fleet, capable of covering a wide range of everyday lifting tasks without the complexity of larger all-terrain machines.
